The sides began their road to Dublin just after Christmas, since then they made their way through South West Region schools where they beat sides from around the county. Their success regionally thrust them forward to the National Final play-offs where they battled with teams from the rest of Ireland.

A number of years ago a Gaelcholaiste Chiarraí side did return victorious from the finals, the school will be hoping now that they have sent three teams they will triple their chance of silverware.

Due to an influx of Castleisland students – where basketball is particularly strong – the school have seem their stock rise in schools’ competitions.
