SCÓLÁIREACHTÍ GAELTACHTA: Now is the time for club members to plan for a Gaeltacht summer ‘holiday’ in 2019! The GAA can provide financial assistance. Contact should be made with club officials immediately after Christmas…to avoid disappointment! Ná cuir do leas ar cairde – cairde go lá cairde go geo….don’t procrastinate!

PEIL FAOI 6/8/10: The highlight of the season, the Under 6/8/10 medal presentation ceremony and cóisir, will take place on Sunday December 9th in the clubhouse. Breaking news – we’ve just heard that the man with the big red coat, red cap, black boots, feasóg mhór fhada bhán and a big bag will be in attendance!! Ócáid iontach a bheidh ann, LCD! The Cruaghoirt will rock to the sound of ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Rudolf the Red-nosed Raindeer’!

SCÓR: The Greater Tralee District Scór na nÓg competitions will be held before December 2nd and the county finals before December 15th. Age: under 17 on the 1st January 2019. A group of dancers, a storyteller/reciter, a 4-person quiz team, a ballad group and a musical group are required to represent the Austin Stack Club. Does The Rock have the talent? Never venture, never win!

NA PIARSAIGH (contd): The Na Piarsaigh Club won its first trophy by winning the Cork City Junior Hurling title in 1947…only 71 years ago. Success at county level followed with the Junior title in 1953. Their first Senior Hurling title was won in 1990 and they had subsequent wins in 1995 and 2004.

They were the Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling ‘sevens’ winners in 1992. In 2006 the club’s Under 14 hurlers won the All-Ireland Christy Ring Trophy for a record sixth time.

In 2006 the clubs Under 13 hurlers won the Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland title for the second year in a row. Famous Cork hurlers include: Tony O’Sullivan (holder of 5 All Star Awards), Seán Óg Ó hAilpín (3 All Stars), John Gardiner, Setanta Ó hAilpín, Roger Tuohy, Christopher Joyce.

PEIL FAOI 15: The Austin Stack Club U15s are the Bordcheantar Thrá Lí Champions for 2018. They had a fine 5-11 to 2-9 victory over Ballymac. They bounced back from a defeat by the same opposition in Ballymac a week earlier.

Shane Bastible was back to his best….from injury….and he lined out to great effect at centre forward. Donnacha Fox, Joey Nagle and Brian McElligott commanded the back line well but it was the high fielding display of Armin Heinrich that caught the eye. He and Dean Rusk fed high flying forwards Jordan Kissane, Gavin Slattery and Donnacha Sayers throughout the encounter and James Charles was also among the goal scorers. Gearóid Killgallon, Josh Lynch and Ruairí Ó Conaill also made some telling contributions.

With rock steady in goals our boys ran out easy winners agus b’é an captaen, Eimhín Ó Foghlú, a d’ardaigh an corn. Panel: Eimhín Ó Foghlú, Liam Ó Cearmada, Cian Ó Duilleáin, Éanna Ó Cathail, Brian Mac Eileagóid, Ruairí Ó Conaill, Gearóid Killgallon, Seán Collins, Josh Lynch, James Charles, Gavin Slattery, Donnacha Fox, Jordan Kissane, Shane Bastible, Donnacha Sayers, Armin Heinrich, Dean Rusk, Joey Nagle, Cillian Litchfield, Caydon O’Mahoney.

CORN UÍ MHUIRÍ (Coláistí na Mumhan): (i) Bhí bua ollmhór ag Meánscoil Chnoc an tSeabhaic v Cill Orglan (ISK)….6-13 in aghaidh 0-9….i gComórtas na Mumhan (Corn Uí Mhuirí). Lucht na Carraige ar an bpainéal: Donncha Mac Mathúna, Mícheál Ó Gadhra, Adam Ó Curráin, Dara de Barra-Breathnach, Pádraig Ó Lionnáin, Craig Ó Tíocháin, Séamus Ó Coigligh.

Next game: they’ll take on The Sem on Wednesday 28ú Samhain. (ii) The Green dream team will challenge Coláiste Chríost Rí on Tuesday 27th November. A victory will allow the CBS lads to progress in the competition. Mura mbuann siad, beidh siad ar an gcarn aoiligh…among those who ‘also ran’!! ‘Mura mbuafam, suathfam!’ mar a dúirt Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé.

CORN UÍ SHÚILLEABHÁIN (Coláistí Chiarraí): The Mounthawk boys were unlucky in the Corn Uí Shúilleabháin Cup competition! They lost on score difference by a mere 0-3….trí chúilín shuaracha!

That was particularily galling as they had already defeated Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne. (ii) The Green are also out of the Corn Uí Shúilleabháin race. Chailleadar v An Ráth Mhór. Leaideanna na Carraige ar phainéal na Faiche: Eoin Ó Cearúill, Dónal Ó Ruairc, Seán Cuiltéir, Conchúr Ó Mír, Tomás Ó Fearaíl, Ben Cuiltéir.

BLIAIN NA GAEILGE: Táimid fós i mBliain na Gaeilge. Have you been inspired? An úsáideann tú an cúpla focal?
