Meeting Regarding Ongoing Closure Of Part Of Abbeydorney-Ballyduff Road

FIANNA Fáil will be holding a public meeting this coming Monday 4th November regarding the ongoing closure of the Rathscannell Road.

The meeting will take place in Ballyduff Community Centre at 8pm and will be chaired by John Brassil TD and Cllr Jimmy Moloney.

The R556 road between Collins’ Cross near Abbeydorney and Ballinclogher Cross has been closed to traffic since the 8th July 2019 to facilitate significant roadworks.

Funding was received by Kerry County Council in 2019  to allow the scheme to progress through detailed design , Kerry County Council cleared the site to allow access for site investigations, which are now complete.

According to Kerry County Council this is a priority scheme to proceed to construction in 2020 and funding has been sought from the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport.

The meeting is open to all members of the public, the meeting will address people’s concerns regarding the closure given the uncertainty of funding and if the road can be reopened to traffic ahead of the major upgrade of the road.
