THERE was huge surprise for Hazel Mooney on Tuesday when news came through that she would be a getting a Christmas bonus she wasn’t counting on.

Hazel, from Manor West, was at her place of work in, Kelliher O’Shea Accountants, Castleisland, when she received a phone call telling her she had just won a brand new Citroen car courtesy of the Tralee Credit Union monthly draw.

“When they rang my phone first I didn’t hear it because I was at the back of the office, so they rang my phone and got through to my mom. Eventually they tracked me down and contacted my office,” said Hazel.

“I thought they were messing when they told me I had won a car. They told me to ring my mother. I knew it wasn’t a wind-up when I heard everyone roaring at home,” said Hazel.

“It started to sink in then, I was no more good at work for the rest of the day! I couldn’t take my mind off it, it was so difficult to bring myself back down to reality because I was on a high,” she said.

If it wasn’t for Hazel’s Mother, Phil, and her choice of car she might not have entered the competition.

“I entered because I saw the car parked up on the road in Castleisland. My mom drives a Citroen so I thought I’d love to win that for my mom. The night I entered I thought to myself ‘I’m going to win that car’ but I thought no more about it until I got the phone call,” she said.

“I offered my mom the car, but she was having none of it, I can’t wait to drive it away now!” said Hazel.
