Siamsa Tíre To Stage School Edition Of Les Misérables

Siamsa Tíre is getting ready to stage a school edition of the famous musical ‘Les Miserables’ this month.

SIAMSA Tire is set to stage one of the world’s best known musicals when it shows the stage edition of Les Misérables from September 24 to September 26 at 8pm each night.

The musical, which will be presented by the award-winning Light Opera Society of Tralee (LOST), is set to be a full-scale production of the work with a live orchestra and a gifted cast of fresh young talents drawn from the Tralee, Killarney, Miltown, Killorglin, Dingle, Listowel, Causeway, Tarbert and Limerick areas.

Leading the cast is 5th Year CBS The Green student, Alan McLoughlin as Valjean while 15 year old Junior Cert student Máirtín O’Cathasaigh from Pobalscoil Chorcha Dhuibhne, gives a commanding performance as Inspector Javert.

Cormac Sertutxa, a student in Presentation Secondary school, Milltown makes his stage debut as the romantic lead role, Marius, opposite Mounthawk Secondary School student Tracy O’ Keeffe.

Jack McEnery and Caitriona Fitzmaurice, both students of Tarbert Comprehensive School who play husband and wife petty criminals and innkeepers Mssr. and Mme.

Thenardier. The much-sought-after role of little Cosette is shared by Tralee girl Catriona Doyle O’ Brien and Listowel seven year old Florence Corridan.

Florence’s nine year old brother Ben plays the plum role of Gavroche.

The show will be directed by Grainne O’Carroll who has also designed the set while the musical director is Anna Connolly from Listowel with the show set to be accompanied by a fourteen-piece professional orchestra.
