CAUSEWAY Comprehensive School held their annual Awards night in the school on May 9 and as usual it was a successful occasion.
Over 400 people were in attendance, including all awards winners, their families and guests. The awards night celebrates all the dedication, hard work and commitment of the students throughout the school year.
The school presented 130 awards on the night with a wide variety of awards from academic to extra-curricular.

Guests on the night included Mr John O’Regan and Lucille O’Sullivan, both former principals, who presented their own perpetual trophies to very deserving students.
Also present was Mrs Eileen Donegan who presented the Cannon William O’Connor Perpetual Trophy for outstanding results in higher level Irish in the Leaving Certificate in 2015.
Special guest speaker on the night was a former student Mr Kieran Lucid from Ballyheigue. Kieran founded his own company Quantum KDB in 2011 and sold it last year for €2.5 million.
Kieran gave an inspirational talk on the night to all the students and parents. Principal Cathal Fitzgerald introduced a number of new academic prizes, including the Principals Award (Student of the Year).
This award was presented by the Principal Mr Cathal Fitzgerald to the most outstanding student in the junior cycle who was Lisa Kearney and Megan Lynch was the most outstanding student in the senior cycle.
The night ended with a unique dance performance by up to 20 students called the “Spirit of Hurling”.
Principal Cathal Fitzgerald stated the night was a great success and demonstrated the great work rate of both teachers and students and the school was determined to continue its success. Scroll down for photos…
