ORGANISERS of the Rose of Tralee International Festival issued a statement, in the aftermath of last night’s stage invasion incident, that they are satisfied that adequate security measures are in place in the Festival Dome,
A man, dressed as a priest in the audience, walked onto the stage while the Cavan Rose was being interviewed by Dáithí Ó Sé. He held up a placard with “In the name of the father” written across it and shouted ‘Fathers For Justice’.
The man, who had purchased a ticket, was immediately removed from the stage by security personnel before being taken away by gardaí.
The show resumed after a short break. The live programme on RTÉ cut away from the stage while the protester was removed by security.
It is understood the man was Matt O’Connor, founder of Fathers 4 Justice, who is originally from County Kerry but now lives in England.
