Intermediate Club Championship Ardfert v John Mitchels:
We played Ardfert away in Round 1 of the Championship. Ardfert at home are a difficult proposition for any team and they proved this again on Sunday.

Throw in was at 2.30 p.m.on a dry day but a gail force cross field wind made conditions difficult for any team. This was going to be a low scoring affair and with 20 minutes played Ardfert was 4 point up scores from John Egan and Brandon Barrett against Mitchels with no score.

Mitchels tagged on two point before half time points each from Sean Moloney and Shane O’Connor both from play leaving half time score Ardfert 0-04, John Mitchels 0-02.

Ardfert opened the scoring in the 2nd half with a point from a free by John Egan. Mitchels dominated the 2nd half but with the strong cross field wind only managed to score 3 points and missed several opportunities.

The 3 Mitchels points were scored by Frank O’Donnell from play, James Duggan from a free and a point from play by Sean Moloney to level up the match to 0-05 all resulting in the match going to extra time.

Ardfert scored the 1st two points in extra time by Egan and Moloney but Mitchels pulled one back from a free by James Duggan leaving the score line 0-07 to Mitchels 0-06 at half time.

Mitchels levelled the game with only 2 minutes remaining with a point from Niall Sheehy. It was now heading for a replay when John Egan put Ardfert a point ahead. With the game nearly over, Mitchels had one last chance to equalise but unfortunately went wide leaving Ardfert the winners by a point.

Mitchels played their hearts out and just fell short in defeating a strong and tough opponents in Ardfert.

U14 BOYS:.
An Gaeltacht 4-11 John Mitchels 2-10
On Wednesday last we made the long journey to Gallarus for Round 3 of the County League. We travelled with a very understrength team because of injuries and Easter holidays . However on the night we put in a very spirited performance against a strong Gaeltacht team who have some wonderful young talent in their ranks .

We played with the wind in the first half and with some great forward play from Martin Laucher, Dan Fisher and Dean Farrell we scored 7 points to Gaeltacht’s 3-6.
In the second half we upped our game with Jack O Donoghue providing the platform with some great runs and with goals from Dan Fisher and sub Darragh Cunnane we gave our hosts plenty to think about.

This was a heartening team performance minus 6 first team regulars and a special thanks to the 5 under 12’s Ciaran, Rory, Brian and Darragh for making the journey to help us out on the night .

Best on the night were Sean Broderick, Darragh Murphy, Jack O Donoghue, Dan Bowler, Martin Laucher and Dan Fisher.

Panel for night was Sean Broderick, James Moran, Ciaran White, Cormac Clifford, Jack O Donoghue(0-2) Conor Kerins, Darragh Murphy, Dan Bowler(0-1) Dan Fisher, Dean Farrell(0-2), Martin Laucher (0-3) Mikey McCarthy, Cody O’Brien, Cian O Shea, Ciaran Foran, Rory Clifford(0-1) Darragh Cunnane(1-1) Brian O Donnell.

Next Wednesday night we have the Feile Qualifiers which will consist of us taking part in our 3 team group playing 2 matches on the night both 15 mins aside. As of yet, time, venue and opposition is not to hand but will be put up on Facebook when we hear.

We would encourage as much support as possible on the night for what is always great entertainment .
