IT’S been going since 1951 so the annual St John’s Parish Christmas Bazaar is very much part of the festive season here in Tralee.

This year it takes place from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, December 3 and preparations are well in place to make sure it’s a success again at the KDYS Hall on Denny Street.

“It’s a major fundraiser and people really do respond in kind by turning up during the weekend showing the great spirit in the parish,” said Fr Tadhg Fitzgerald of St John’s.

“We’re very grateful to the businesses, to the sponsors and to the people of the town for their support,” said Fr Fitzgerald.

The event raises in the region of €40,000 every year and they have some wonderful prizes up for grabs.

The door prizes are home heating oil on Friday night, two nights in the Gleneagle on Saturday and an adult’s bicycle on Sunday.

Of course there’s furniture, paintings, hampers and lots up for grabs in raffles, auctions and lucky dips so there’s a lot to look forward to at the KDYS the weekend after next.

Doors open on Friday, December 1 at 7.30pm, Saturday, December 2 at 7pm and Sunday, December 3 at 2.30pm.
