PUPILS and staff in St John’s Parochial School Tralee are inviting friends and families from near and far to join them on this Sunday for a family fun run in Tralee Town Park.

The aim of the run is to raise funds to build a playground for the children within the safety of the school grounds.

Speaking at the launch last month, Principal of St John’s Parochial School, Mike O’Toole, said: “The pupils and teachers have been hitting the park since last September to run and soak up the benefits of exercise and social interaction.”

“The children have been completing the 2K loop used by the junior parkrun, with teachers stationed along the route to offer encouragement. While we do record our results, we emphasize that each student is running against their personal best and that the focus is on effort and enjoyment.”

The event will bring the school community together, but they are encouraging anyone who wants a fun day out, while keeping fit at the same time to call down this Sunday morning.

Runners of all levels are invited to join in on the fun with registration open to all at info@jschooltralee.com or on the day is from 10.15am and the run will start at 11am. The entry fee is €10 per runner or €15 for a family to join everyone at the starting line.
