PUPILS from St John’s Parochial School, Ashe Street, had a busy Thursday night of baking ahead of a fundraiser at the school the following morning.

Teach an tSolais, adjacent to the school, was filled with goodies on Friday for a bakesale  in aid of Tralee Soup Kitchen and My Canine Companion, from which the school recently received a therapy dog.

My Canine Companion is a charity who provide accredited service dogs to people with disabilities, predominantly autism and provides a range of therapy dog services and autism awareness programmes.

“We get the dog free of charge, along with the training,” said Principal Mike O’Toole. “We’re trying to help them out because it’s all voluntary. The dog is only three months old and is working out great so far,” he added.

There was a steady stream of visitors to the bakesale all morning and the hard work of the pupils (and their parents) certainly paid off with everyone complimenting the quality of the goodies. Scroll down for photos…
