After The Sharp Dressed Men, The Ladies Take Over Listowel Today

IT’S been a mixed week weatherwise but the sun is set to shine all afternoon in Listowel on Ladies Day today.

Yesterday saw Michael Ryan, resplendent in a very dapper check suit with cream waistcoat being declared the Ryle Menswear Best Dressed Man at Listowel Races by judge Nathan McDonnell.

Michael who is from Thurles in Co. Tipperary won a custom-made suit from Ryle Menswear valued at €1,200. First runner up was Tony O’Mahony from Abbeyfeale who won a full Benetti suit, shirt and tie. Both were presented their prizes by sponsor Micheal Moran, owner of Ryle Menswear in Tralee.

Today is the 9th year of McElligotts sponsorship of Ladies Day and they are delighted to once again welcome on board Kia as official event co-sponsors.

The Best Dressed Lady competition will be judged by international fashion designer, Don O’Neill and model and businesswoman, Elvira Fernandez Zebo.

In addition to the winners prize of a Trip for Two to New York, there are also generous cash prizes of €1,000 for the Most Creative Headpiece and €500 for the Most Contemporary Outfit.

Also, the famous open top Double Decker Bus is back to transport everyone in comfort and style from the centre of Listowel  town to the races from 12.30am and every half hour after that.  Get there early to sample the atmosphere!
