AN Bord Pleanála has upheld a decision by Kerry County Council to refuse planning permission for a development at Cloonmore in Boherbee.

Kerry County Council had already refused permission for the development back in August, but Tulfarris CG Limited appealed the decision.

They wanted to demolish two houses and construct 85 apartments consisting of two buildings comprising 47 one or two beds, four triplex buildings comprising six one-bed apartments and 12 two-bed and two three-bed townhouses, on the site.

In their decision, An Bord Pleanala was not satisfied that the proposed development responds appropriately to the unique characteristics and the context of the site and considers the development would lead to a disjointed and piecemeal form of development.

The Board said the proposed development would therefore seriously injure the amenities of the area and would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
