WE avoided any thunderstorms in Tralee yesterday, despite the Status Yellow warning issued.

Well Met Eireann has issued another Thunderstorm and Rainfall warning for this afternoon and evening for Kerry, Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway and Mayo, but again it looks like we’ll avoid the worst.

They say there will be localised slow-moving showers and thunderstorms along the western counties with frequent lightning, gusty winds and hail in the most intense storms.

This could result in localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and even power outages. The warning is valid from 1pm to 9pm tonight.

However, looking at the rainfall radar on the Met.ie website, at the moment it looks like the Tralee area will avoid any heavy rain with the north of the county in most danger of thunderstorms.
