FOLLOWING the success of last year’s inaugural open submission exhibition, ‘Changing Times’, Siamsa Tíre once again invites artists in the Kerry to take part in this year’s event, ‘Lost Things’.

The exhibition is open to all artists, both amateur and professional, living in the South West of Ireland.

The exhibition will be selected by artist and curator, Roisín McGuigan, from the artworks submitted. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, December 14 at 6pm when Awards will be announced.

Participating artists are invited to investigate the theme of Lost Things, reflecting this theme in whatever way they see fit.

Catriona Fallon, CEO Siamsa Tíre Tralee said; “Last year’s exhibition was a great success as this process gives artists, amateur or professional, an opportunity to take part in a themed exhibition.  We are conscious that there are very few public exhibition spaces in Kerry, so we are delighted to open our galleries in Siamsa Tíre to a broad spectrum of local artists.  We have already had a great response so far with great excitement from artists around the range of ways they will tackle the theme of Lost Things.”

Artists will be provided with a canvas which may be used as is, or altered in any way the artist chooses.  Artists must use the canvas supplied by Siamsa Tíre and completed works submitted should be for sale.

Full conditions of entry, application forms and canvases are available from Siamsa Tíre. Works should be submitted at Siamsa Tíre with completed forms on Friday 23rd or Saturday 24th of November (10am to 6pm).

There is a €10 submission fee per entry. The final exhibition will be selected from the works submitted – not all works submitted will be exhibited.

The final selection will be made by the curator. Artists will be informed of the outcome of the selection during the week of the 3rd of December.  Works not selected will need to be collected on the 7th or 8th of December (10am-6pm).

The curator of the exhibition, Roisin McGuigan, is an accomplished artist and has worked as a curator, programmer and manager at a number of arts organisations across Ireland including Sculptors’ Society of Ireland, West Cork Arts Centre, West Cork Music, Wicklow County Arts Office and Kerry County Arts Office.

She was Artistic Director of Kerry Film Festival from 2012 – 2016 and is currently a consultant with Office for Art.

The exhibition will open to the public on 14th December and will run up to 8th February from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and until late on performance evenings. for more, click on this link https://www.siamsatire.com/gallery/lost-things
