Cost €20. Even if not attending yourself please purchase and gift to a family member, neighbour or friend and play your part in making this our biggest & best Strictly yet! All funds raised towards continuing development of club facilities in Connolly Park.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: We have drawn West Kerry in the quarter final of the Co. Championship. Our last two meetings ended in wins for us – in the 2014 quarter final (0-14 to 0-7) and in last year’s round 3 game (0-21 to 1-13). If Kerry, as generally expected, progresses to the All Ireland Final on 17th September then those quarter final ties are likely to be played on the week-end of Sept 30th/Oct 1st.

In the meantime the second last round of the Co. League (R10) goes ahead at the week-end. Our game, at home against An Ghaeltacht, is now fixed for Sunday afternoon (13th Aug) at 2pm.

B FOOTBALL: Likewise, our B team are also playing their second last round in Division 5 of the Co. League. This game is also fixed for Sunday afternoon at 2pm  in Ballyduff.

In the Town League we have qualified for the semi final and our opponents in this will be determined when the final game in the round robin series is played on next Monday evening (14th Aug) between Ballymac and Na Gaeil.

CONGRATULATIONS: to the Kerry Junior and Minor Footballers on their respective wins in Portlaoise on last Saturday (5th Aug). The Juniors, with their victory over Meath in the All Ireland JF Final, were winning their third title in a row (to match the only other three-in-row winners, London in the 1969-1971 period). More important the win puts them back on top of the Roll of Honours with 18 titles, now one ahead of local rivals, Cork.

The quarter final win by our Minors (against Louth), with our own Ciarán O’Reilly, Dylan Casey and Michael Slattery getting some second half game time (and Michael scoring a lovely point late on), keeps their prospects of winning their fourth All Ireland MF title in a row very much alive.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Kerins O’Rahillys 4-9; Austin Stacks 6-13.

In Strand Road on last Monday (31st July) we had a good win against Kerins O’Rahillys in R1 of the Central League. Just thirteen seconds had elapsed when Donagh McKivergan pointed after David Fitzmaurice put him through from the throw-in.

By half time we had scored 4-7 to 1-6 for the opposition. In the second half honours were even with we adding 2-6 to 3-3 for the home side. Gearóid Fitzgerald scored a hat-trick, with Harry O’Callaghan scoring two and Joseph O’Connor scoring our 6th goal.

Donagh McKivergan scored five points and David Couchman put over four. All but one of our 19 scores came from play – a David Couchman 52nd minute point our only one from a placed ball. Another splendid performance from all 17 who lined out, including our two substitutes, Dean Scanlon and Alan Dore.

The only negative in the game was another injury picked up by Padraig Looney in the 18th minute. We all wish Podge a full and speedy recovery.

Team: David Oba, Shane Kelliher, Shane Walsh, James Quigley, Tomás Sheehy (0-1), Conor Lowe, Odhran Liston, Joseph O’Connor (1-1), David Fitzmaurice, Padraig Looney, Gearóid Sheehan, David Couchman (0-4 – one 45), Donagh McKivergan (0-5), Gearóid Fitzgerald (3-0), Harry O’Callagan (2-1).

Subs used: Dean Scanlon (18m), Alan Dore (ht) (0-1)

The remaining fixtures are as follows; R2 we have a bye; R3 at home to Dingle (14th Aug); R4 away to Na Gaeil (21st Aug); R5 at home to Laune Rangers (28th Aug). The semi final fixed for 4th September with the Final on the following Monday (11th Sept).

In between those Central League fixtures we have a Co. League Final, between ourselves and Dr, Crokes, which has been provisionally fixed for Wednesday, 23rd August.
