PEIL FAOI 7: We had a good turnout of new Under 7 footballers at our first session of 2022 and all seemed to enjoy their first Rock experience! We had many new faces and players and it was great to see so many coaches in attendance.

We welcomed Tom Tansley back into the fold and he was ably assisted by Kevin O’Leary, Séamus Smith, Jonathan Magnier, William Kirby, Richard Long, Mickey Collins, Éamonn Ó Scannláin, Tommy Griffin, Amy Lucid and Seán Quilter.

The session was held in Scoil Eoin Primary School, Balloonagh, and everybody will be heartily welcome for our second session on Sunday next. Mórbhuíochas le Nóirín Rusk who facilitated our transition to Balloonagh Primary. Upwards and onwards!

PEIL FAOI 9: The Under 9 boys were also in action in Balloonagh Primary School on Sunday last and they had great fun. What a fantastic start to our new season….tús maith, gan aon dabht! Buíochas speisialta le Nóirín Rusk a chabhraigh go mór linn chun úsáid an halla i mBalluamhnach a fháil.

Last Sunday morning’s coching staff: Mike Lynch, Tim McMahon, David Fitzmaurice, Donagh McMahon, Niall Fitzmaurice, TJ Hogan, Kevin Counihan, Finbar Canty and Mickey Collins. Plenty experience there!

PEIL FAOI 11: Football for the Under 11 boys began on the Astroturf at The Green CBS on Sunday last, January 23rd. Well over two dozen footballers arrived on the very first day and, judging by the manner in which they showed their skills, one would think that it was their 10th session of the new season!

The football was a joy to behold! The men in charge of proceedings: Colm Mangan, Miko Horan, Wayne Quillinan, Brian O’Leary, Kenneth Cronin, Gearóid Ó Tíocháin, Pat Carmody and Keith McKenzie. They know their football!

PEIL FAOI 13: Plans are afoot for the U13 boys and training will begin in the not-too-distant future under the direction of Pa Laide, Eoghan Ó Gealbháin, Ger Hobbert, Martin Courtney, Dan Aherne, Niall Riordan and Mike McCannon.

PEIL FAOI 15: Morgan Ó Conaill, Ciarán Ó Conaill, Ronan Kavanagh, David Courtney, David Clifford and others are our U15 bosses. U15 action will begin shortly.

PEIL FAOI 17: Denis Sayers, William Kirby, Richie Conway, Éamonn Ó Scannláin, Ciarán de Brún, Damien Ryall, Denis McElligott, Shane Guthrie agus Tommy Naughton are expected to keep an experienced and watchful eye on the U17 lads. Ní fada go mbeidh na buachaillí Faoi 17 i mbun traenála agus peile.

CORN SHEÁIN UÍ MHURCHÚ (Peil Faoi 19): Best wishes to peileadóirí Ghaelcholáiste Chiarraí as they prepare for their Munster semi-final which will take place on Saturday next (29ú Eanáir) in aghaidh Inis Díomáin, Contae an Chláir. The Rock representative in the game will be our own Cian Ó Duilleáin. Go n-éirí go geal leis/leo!

CORN UÍ MHUIRÍ (Faoi 19): The Munster semi-finals of the Corn Uí Mhuirí football competition will take place this Saturday (29th) at the Mallow GAA Complex.

The first match, between Tralee CBS (The Green) and Skibbereen Community School, will be played at 3.30pm. The second semi-final, between Coláiste Bhréanainn (Cill Airne) and Hamilton High School (Droichead na Bandan), will commence at 5.30pm.

A feast of great college football is expected and both games will have a Kerry/Cork ‘bite’ in them!!

Our very best wishes to buachaillí na Carraige ar phainéal na Faiche: Armin Heinrich (an captaen), Ben Quilter, Ruairí O’Connell, Conor Horan, Jordan Kissane, Donnacha Sayers and James Charles.

We still feel a little sadness for the Mercy Mounthawk players who, having played their hearts out, were very unlucky in their quarter-final game!

Imreoirí mí-ámharacha Chnoc an tSeabhaic: Paddy Lane, Cillian Litchfield, Evan Foley and Joey Nagle.

IS MÓR AGAINN DO THACAÍOCHT: However, 2021/2 has been a most successful time for The Rock….we won the two important Kerry competitions and qualified for the Munster club final. Our senior team represented our town and county and, dár ndóigh, the whole Austin Stack Club community with pride.

This fantastic run came at a big financial cost to the club and because of the current pandemic restrictions our fundraising efforts have been seriously curtailed. We acknowledge and thank our friends and supporters at home and abroad who have contributed to fundraisers or have donated up to now; all these contributions have in no small way played a vital part in helping our men to challenge the best in our province.

We appeal once again for financial support to help us cover the extra costs incurred in our trip to Tipp…. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-the-stacks-on-the-trip-to-tipp?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_lin…or go to www.austinstacks.ie. All contributions are and will be much appreciated; mórbhuíochas le tacadóirí Chlub na Carraige. A new season beckons for The Rock!

CRUINNIÚ CINN BHLIANA NA SINSEAR: A very successful and well-attended Club AGM (senior section) took place in our Connolly Park clubooms on Sunday last and the coming season’s management team has been put in place under our new chairman, Shane Lynch. Go raibh gach rath air.
