U16 ROCK HURLERS SHINE: Gaelcholáiste U16 HURLING legends impressed hugely on Monday last. The gaiscígh called on their massive reserve of confidence and ability as they made their way to Cathair Sáilí for a mouth-watering Kerry final tie, facing off against Baile an Bhuinneánaigh. The sliotar was flung into the fray around midday and a tense tête-à-tête commenced. Both teams tore chunks out of each other with goalkeeper Liam Cúipéir being called up the field to assist on more than one occasion. The 7-7 halftime scoreline gave little indication as to which side was soaring that little bit higher. The electrified crowd wasn’t complaining one bit, however! A rousing half-time speech from an Máistir Ó Conchúir sent Rock réaltaí Marc Ó Loinsigh agus Gavin Ó Cathasaigh barrelling towards a fantastic second-half display. The former was provided with an extra camán, thanks to teammate Daithí Ó Smulláin, when his own was smashed to smithereens (smidiríní) in the intense action. The clock ticked on and réiteoir was surely disappointed to call time on this spectacular affair. The GCC touchline exploded with joy upon realising that the 12 points to 9 scoreline was in their favour. Our buachaillí cróga have ushered in a new age of iománaíocht at the Gaelcholáiste and its future is looking blindingly bright! (Our GCC correspondent, Dáithí Ó Loinsigh).

How delightful to see a Rock footballer on the Hogan Stand podium on Sunday last agus greim láimhe aige ar an gcorn.
