THE ROCK ALL-STARS: The Rock All-Stars stepped out in style once again on Sunday last in Connolly Park. We had an exciting warm-up which everyone enjoyed. Bhí Máire i gceannas ar na himeachtaí arís. Ball skills….hopping, bouncing, throwing, catching, kicking….were the order of the day. Great skill, determination and tenacity were shown in the obstacle course….going through the tunnel, jumping through hoops and zigzagging. The parachute flying high in the sky was a hightlight! Well done, all…tutors and pupils! Up the Rock! Please join us again on Sunday morning next at 10am at the Austin Stack Club pitch in Connolly Park. The All-Stars initiative is open to all children, boys and girls, with a diagnosis. Fáilte roimh chách. Eolas/information: please contact Sarah (087-281 0239) or Sandra (087-294 6658).

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) Our U13 Black Team challenged Na Gaeil in our second game in the Tralee Town League (Division 1) competition on Sunday evening last (17th). We made the trip to Killeen determined to put in a solid performance despite missing some players and nursing a few injuries. Our boys started very well and put in a strong first half playing very good football; we deservedly led at the break….bhíomar chun tosaigh le haon chúl amháin….3-4 to 2-4. However, when our hosts came out for the second half they threw everything at us; our boys’ brave efforts kept the game alive until the final quarter. Eventually, i ndeireadh na feide, Na Gaeil powered ahead and took the laurels! Hard luck, lads, but a brave effort! Team Black: 3-5; Na Gaeil: 5-14. Thanks to our hosts for a great match and to the referee for his handling of the game. Training sessions as usual this week….on Tuesday and on Thursday. Keep up the training, boys…a lot of football still to be played and we’re improving all the time….growing in age and in wisdom and constantly improving in the skills of Gaelic football. (ii) Team Amber came away from Killeen with a well-deserved victory in the Tralee Town League (Division 3) competition on last Sunday evening’s (17th) encounter with Na Gaeil. An scór….Team Amber: 5-12; Na Gaeil B: 5-6. A blistering first half of football from Team Amber put them in firm control of this local derby. The boys’ power, pace and control had them reap five goals before the short whistle. A brace of points from Nathan O’Connor as well as great goals by Nathan Hurley, Jack Delaney and Kyle Yoxall put the Black ‘n’Amber ar an mbóthar ceart! Na Gaeil battled back in the 2nd half but their attacks were bravely repulsed with ferocious defending by the Austin Stack Club boys. Some fine Rock points were scored to keep the hosts at arms’ length; a healthy look was kept on the scoreboard and a well-deserved and outstanding win was recorded. Bua de dhá chúl! This was one of the most complete team performances of the year and, undoubtedly, Man-of-the-Match was Noah Reidy who gave a stellar performance at centre back; his outstanding performance included a well-taken point….cúilín gleoite. Thanks to Na Gaeil for a good contest. Thanks to the referee for his handling of the game. An fhoireann ómrach (amber): Seán McCannon; Joe O’Halloran, Oisín Cotter, Diarmuid Hennessy; Alex Dafoor, Noah Reidy, Alex O’Flaherty; Oran O’Donoghue, Karol Kowalczyk; Nathan Hurley, Nathan O’Connor, Gearóid Corcoran; Séamus Keenan, Kyle Yoxall, Jack Delaney; Luke O’Connor, Jayden O’Dowd, Eliot Caljea, Conor Hanafin. FAOI 15: (i) Our U15s started their Central League Division 1 campaign with a convincing away victory over An Ghaeltacht in Gallarus on Wednesday evening last. We started slowly and led by 0-5 at half-time. Our boys continued their good form in the second half and ran out convincing winners in the end….5-17 to 0-9. Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí na Carraige! (ii) On Friday evening our Central League Division 5 footballers started their campaign with a hard-fought and narrow close win against Castleisland Desmonds in Oileán Ciarraí. We began the first half slowly and were 2-0 down shortly after throw-in. However, following a few positional switches our boys got a foothold in the game and we led…3-4 to 2-3…at half-time. A brilliant comeback! Castleisland made their comeback attempt in the second half but our stalwart defence kept us in the game. Our lads worked hard and repelled many dangerous attacks. Two more goals from our boys in the second half put us in firm control of the match. Castleisland Desmonds attacked repeatedly but could not get past our stonewall defence. We were victorious! Final score….AdeS: 5-9; Castleisland Desmonds: 3-4. Special thanks to our U13 boys, Hawlie Cotter, Darragh Lyons and Barry Laide, who played really well on the occasion.
