PEIL FAOI 7: Please note CHANGE of TIME and VENUE…..our 5th U7 session will commence at 11am on Sunday next (20th) in the CBS PRIMARY School in Cluain na Lobhar. We had another great turnout of Under 7 footballers at last Sunday’s 4th session of 2022 and bhí an-am ag gach duine and a brilliant hour’s football was played by Rock stars of the future.

Our bainisteoirí, Éamonn Ó Scannláin, William Kirby, Mickey Collins, Tom Tansley, Kevin O’Leary, Séamus Smith, Amy Lucid, Jonathan Magnier, Richard Long, Tommy Griffin, Seán Quilter and Dara Ó Lúing, were very pleased with the efforts of the boys. (Dara had to rush off early as he was involved with the successful Kerry senior ladies in their game v Tipp….Ciarraí Abú!)

We’re looking forward to seeing every single U7 footballer in The Rock area at the CBS Primary School in Cluain na Lobhar* ag 11.00am maidin Dé Domhnaigh! We thank the school management for permitting us to use their fine facility. Fáilte mhór roimh chách. *Do you know that there was a leper hospital in the ‘Meadow of the Lepers’ in the middle ages?

PEIL FAOI 9: Please note CHANGE of TIME and VENUE…..the Under 9 boys will have their fifth session of 2022 on The Green CBS Astroturf pitch at 12.00 noon on Sunday next (20th). SCÓR na nÓG: Time to think of Scór na nÓg 2022! It is expected that the Tralee Area Scór na nÓg competitions will take place shortly. Who’s getting ready to represent the Black’n’Amber in song, in story, in dance or in quiz! Have we a solo singer? Have we four lads to try the table quiz? (The girls’ section could do the same)! It would be nice if club members had a go!Competitions: Singing (one song), Quiz, Recitation or Story, Ballad Group (2 songs – harmony), Music Group (two tunes), Nuachleas (Sketch), Figure Dance and Set Dance. PEIL FAOI 17: (i) Minor Training: Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm. (ii) A challenge: On Sunday last (13th) we welcomed the boys of Bishopstown, Cork, to our Connolly Park home and played them in a very exciting and very worthwhile challenge match. Our boys had a very narrow victory and a win over any Cork team is always satisfying! Maith sibh, a leaideanna na Carraige! We thank the Baile an Easpaig boys and their mentors for making the long trip to Tralee and we hope to take up their offer of a return visit later in the summer. It was nice to see a former Rock club mentor, Brian Cuthbert, on the sideline with the Corkonians and he was ably assisted by his brother, Pat, and the great Larry Tompkins. U17 mentors: Denis Sayers, William Kirby, Richie Conway and Kieran Browne.

PEIL FAOI 19: Our greatest sympathies to The Green (Tralee CBS) boys who were pipped in their Munster (Corn Uí Mhuirí) final game v The Sem on Saturday last. They played their hearts out, they gave ‘their almighty best’ but it was not to be! They went so far in the competition and got so close to a Munster medal but were unfortunate and unlucky at the final hurdle. Briseadh croí, gan dabht! However, the Blue’n’Gold will rise again! Kingdom footballers always do! Our thoughts are with Armin Heinrich, Ben Quilter, Ciarán de Brún, Jordan Kissane, Conor Horan, Donnacha Sayers, Ruairí O’Connell, James Charles, Cian Brosnan agus an comhbhainisteoir, Tim McMahon. Heroes all and The Rock is proud of them! Comhbhrón le muintir na Faiche uile. We also think of the Mercy Mounthawk Rock lads, Joey Nagle, Evan Foley, Paddy Lane and Cillian Litchfield, who gave a good account of themselves in the same competition. We also think of Cian Ó Duilleáin and his Gaelcholáiste comhimreoirí (teammates) who gave a good account of themselves in the Seán Ó Murchú Cup competition. The vagaries of sport!

LOTTO: Thanks to all who support our club lotto per (i) Maguires, Butchers, Caherslee, (ii) Siopa Chaoimhín de Barra, Sráid na Carraige, (iii) Paudie Commane’s Book Shop, Sráid na Carraige, (iv) O’Flynn Interiors, Sráid na Carraige, (v) Kirbys’ Brogue Inn, Sráid na Carraige, (vi) Terry’s Butcher Shop, Páirc na Darach, (vii) Husseys’ Deli, Cé an Phrionsa, (viii) The Burger Shack, Monavalley, and (ix) www.austinstacks.ie.
