U13 Town Final…An Charraig v Na Gaeil. We played our last competitive game of the year under lights in the fantastic John Mitchel Complex on Saturday last.

Despite torrential rain, the pitch was playable…great credit to the groundsmen…but it wasn’t an occasion for flowing football as a stiff breeze and heavy conditions made life difficult for both teams.

We started well with Leon Shamelba’s snap shot off the ground going over the bar. Liam Nolan notched 0-2 in style but the opposition came more into the game.

Seamus Harty scored 0-4…agus bhí ‘Na Glasaigh’ chun tosaigh ag an sos. A thunder shower made the second half conditions even more difficult with both sets of players slipping a lot and dropping the greasy ball.

However the well-drilled boys in green pushed on with four more points (2 frees). All we could muster in the second twenty five minutes was a Conor Myers free.

We had few scoring chances but a drop-into-the-square ball or a shot from distance into the wind came up short. Final score: 0-8 to 0-4. We were beaten by a better team on the night.

We will take a few weeks off before the texts go out with news of next year’s coaches, training times, etc. ‘Well done’ to all for the hard work and dedication throughout the long season. See you, boys, in Páirc Aibhistín de Staic at 2pm on Sunday! Up The Rock!
