FAOI 16

BALLYMAC   5-8    AUSTIN STACKS   4-14

A superb last quarter comeback and a fine individual contribution of 3-4 from Dara Reagan just failed to win us this Coiste Tra–Li league game against our local rivals Austin Stacks in Ballymac.

The visitors were 3 points to two ahead after 10 minutes with Ml. Hoare and D. Reagan pointing for us. Stacks then scored 1-4 without reply to go 8 points ahead. However two super goals and a point by D Reagan brought us to within a point. Stacks scored a goal from a penalty which left us 2-8 to 2-3 behind at half time.

Our opponents began the second half in flying form scoring 2-2 early in the half. Two frees by D. Reagan and a point by D. Keane kept us in touch.

At this point we were 10 points down but this team had no intention of giving up   A goal by Keelan from a D. Reagan pass began the comeback. Stacks got two more points before Barry Lyons drove through for another goal.

This set up a frantic finish to a very entertaining game where our opponents got two points while points by Keelan, D. Keane and another Dara Reagan goal left us 3 points behind after a thrilling game. Josh O’ Keeffe had a fine game switching between defence and attack, while Eddie Rodgers, Eoin and Liam O’ Malley gave their usual energetic performances. We are away to Kerins o’ Rahillys on Monday the 14th of September.

FAOI 12

FAOI 10

There was no Academy on Sunday the 13th of September as we travelled to Castleisland to participate in the Castleisland district Blitz. We had two teams playing in the blitz, one under 9 and one under 10 team.

Our under 10 team lost in the final against John Mitchels in what was a tight encounter in very difficult wet conditions.

However our U9 team came up trumps for us by beating John Mitchels in an entertaining game in very difficult conditions.  Jack Slattery accepted the shield on behalf of his teammates. Well done to all the boys and we would to extend our thanks to Castleisland Desmond’s for organising the event.

FAOI 8

The academy took place on Sunday morning and best on the day were Caoimhin Murphy, Luke Griffin, and Kieran O’Connell. Well done to the boys who turned out for training on a very wet morning. There will be no Academy next Sunday the 20th of September due to the All Ireland final between Kerry and Dublin.

FAOI 6

There will be no Academy next Sunday the 20th of September due to the all Ireland final between Kerry and Dublin.

CAILINI FAOI 14

Ballymac 4-10  Finuge /St Senans 1-6

We’re Co League champions for 2015 !!!

Ballymac

Ballymac u 14 girls Co League Division 3 winners 2015.

Our U14 girls gave the complete performance on the night to claim the Co League Div 3 title Sunday evening in Knocknagoshel . Everyone performed on the night from No1 to No 21 . All the skills and traits of football were displayed by the girls , scoring , passing , blocking , defending & great teamwork.

Finuge St Senans had beaten Feile winners  Currow  the weekend before and were very impressive doing so but the Ballymac girls never let them into the game on the night .
We got off to a perfect start with an Aine Rice goal after a minute , Elle Sugrue and Cora Savage added points shortly afterwards .

A great move stated by Robin in goals saw us work the ball to Lisa Curran who fielded and pointed from an angle , a great team score . Up 1-3 to no score with 10mins played gave a great foundation , however Finuge St Senans came back into the game and scored a goal and point , they enjoyed a period of possession then and had a few good scoring chances .

However our backs were defiant  blocking and closing down the Finuge players . Aisling and Therese came more into the game and we dominated the remaining 10mins of the half . Aine Rice added a point to her goal followed by 2 good points from play by Emily O Donoghue saw us 1- 6 to 1-1 ahead . Just before the halftime whistle a Lisa Curran shot looped in over the Finuge goalie to give us a cushion that our play deserved . Half time score 2-6 to 1-1 .

We began the 2nd half in whirlwind fashion and 2 goals in 3 minutes from Cora Savage and a trademark bullet from Emily O Donoghue effectively put the result in no doubt . To be fair to Finuge St Senans , they refused to throw in the towel and played with great spirit for the remaining time left .

They added 5 points to their total and try as they might for a goal our backs were determined to keep them out .Block downs by Eve Creedon and Niamh Rahilly , interceptions by Sinead Mc Keown and Roisin Long ,  clearances and steals by Caoimhe Carroll and Maeve O Sullivan were features of the 2nd half.

We added points through Aine , Aisling , Caroline Hurley and Cora Savage to leave the final score 4-10 to 1-6 .  Replacements Caroline Hurley , Sophie O Donoghue , Catriona Sommers , Cait Rice , Cathy O Donoghue & Elle Linehan all played really well when introduced .

Robin was soundness personified and her kick outs always found a blue jersey. Our half forward line of Elle Mc Elligott , Aine Rice and Emily O Donoghue worked very hard all night covering and pressuring the Finuge kickouts .

Our full forward line contributed 2-5 on the night . Special mention to our 2 midfielders Aisling O Connell & Therese Keane  who were brilliant on the night and  closely followed by Caoimhe Carroll at centre back.

Paddy White chairman of the KLGFA was in attendance to present captain Niamh Rahilly with the Div 3 shield afterwards . Eamon Walsh of Knocknagoshel kindly sponsored the Player of the Match award which was presented to Aisling O Connell .

Team & Scorers : Robin White , Eve Creedon , Niamh Rahilly , Sinead Mc Keown , Roisin Long , Caoimhe Carroll , Maeve O Sullivan , Aisling O Connell 0-1 , Therese Keane , Ellie Mc Elligott , Aine Rice 1-2 , Emily O Donoghue 1-2 , Cora Savage 1-2 , Ellie Sugrue 0-1 & Lisa Curran 1-1.
Replacements : Cait Rice , Caroline Hurley 0-1 , Sophie O Donoghue , Catriona Sommers  , Cathy Palmer & Ellie Linehan

Well done girls take a bow !!!
