Cyclists from Bewleys in Dublin present Mairead Fernane, Maura O’Sullivan and Ted Moynihan of Kerry Hospice with a cheque for €1,000 on Friday morning.
SIX Bewley’s employees presented a cheque for €1,000 to Kerry Hospice on Friday morning before they set off from Tralee on a 500km cross country cycle to raise much needed funds for Hospices nationwide.
It’s all part of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s which takes place on Thursday 14th September.
The cycle kicked off yesterday in a bid to raise €7,000 for local hospice care and finishes four days later in Dublin.
Over the four days the six strong cycle team will visit seven hospices across the country. The team left the newly built Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry on Friday with their sights firmly set on their second stop in Milford Hospice, Limerick.
Further stops at Cahercalla Hospice in Clare, Galway Hospice and the Offaly Hospice make up their trip before they cycle through Dublin city finishing up with visits to Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services in Harold’s Cross and finally St. Francis’ Hospice in Raheny, Bewley’s own local hospice.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s and over €34 million has been raised for Hospice since the first coffee morning was held in 1993.
The money raised from the Bewley’s cycle and Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s will go towards essential services such as homecare nurses, new equipment and development of new hospice care facilities.
