Auto solos are a relatively new event mainly geared towards getting new younger drivers into a budget friendly form of motor sport. Anyone between the age of 16 and 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian and anyone over 18 can compete.

So far the Kerry Motor Club have had a regular 20 strong entry for each event and growing with each round of the competition.

How it works is, on the day each competitor is given a map of the course which they have to memorise. These tests must then be navigated as quickly as possible with time penalties given for touching any obstacles or navigating the course incorrectly. The competitor with the fastest time is deemed the winner.

Dates for next year’s rounds will be available on the Kerry Motor Club Facebook page in the during the month of January.

The competition sponsored by KK Hydraulics Tralee, consisted of four rounds all of which were ran in Ballybeggan racecourse.
