Francis and John Brennan have announced the sale of the Park Hotel Kenmare.
FRANCIS and John Brennan of the Park Hotel in Kenmare have announced they have passed on the baton of ownership to a new family.
Yesterday is was revealed in the media that businessman and social entrepreneur, Bryan Meehan, had bought the property for an undisclosed sum.
Mr Meehan’s Californian coffee chain, Blue Bottle Coffee, which he invested in back in 2012, was sold in a $500m deal with Swiss food giant Nestle a few years ago.

He also previously worked with Ali Hewson, wife of Bono, in setting up the natural skincare beauty line Nude which was subsequently acquired by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy).

After 40 years at the hotel Francis and John Brennan felt it was important that the new owners would have the same love and passion for the hotel and the team as they have.
They said Bryan Meehan has stayed at the Park over the years and truly understands hospitality from his business interests such as Blue Bottle Coffee in USA amongst others. He currently spends his time between USA and Ireland.
The Meehan family are also working on a sustainability project in Glengarriff known as Dromgarriff Rainforest, protecting one of the last remaining temperate oakwood rainforests in Ireland.
John and Francis wanted to thank everyone who has entered the doors of the hotel during their tenure from suppliers, generations of staff who have maintained the property and of course the guests.
Francis and John wished the Meehan family the same happiness they have enjoyed in Park Hotel Kenmare and every success in the future.
Put on the market earlier this year, the individual guide price for the Park Hotel was €17m, while the 4-star Lansdowne Hotel, also owned by the Brennans, had a separate guide of €3.5m. It is not clear if the Lansdowne was part of the sale.
