A CASTLEISLAND man’s work was on display at the Oscars on Sunday Night.
Edward O’Sullivan, originally from Barrack Street in Castleisland, was the man who picked out the jewellery that complemented Cate Blanchett’s Armani Privé gown on the red-carpet for the 88th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
The stylist, in his early 40s, has been living and working in the States for around 25 years but grew up and was educated in the town.
He has previously worked with other Hollywood ‘A-listers’, Angelina Jolie, Sianna Miller and Penelope Cruz in the past. On Sunday night he selected jewellery from Tiffany for Cate Blanchett to wear as she attended, hoping for a Best Actress gong for her performance in ‘Carol’.

The photo of Edward with Cate Blanchett was posted up on a Castleisland facebook page. Edward’s sister, Mary Owens, commented with the photo; “Watching the Oscars and bursting with pride for our brother Ed. Jewellery looks amazing.”
So another Kerry connection along with actor Michael Fassbender and Ballyheigue’s Don O’Neill who dressed nominee Emma Donoghue on the night.
