A Choral Treat To Aid Recovery Haven At St Brendan’s

A SPRING treat is on the way next weekend with a not-to-be-missed choral concert with the Kerry Choral Union in St Brendan’s Church, Upper Rock Street, Tralee on Sunday March 19 at 7:30pm.

The concert is eagerly anticipated and has been organised as a fundraiser for the benefit of Recovery Haven, the Kerry Cancer Support House.

The choir will be joined by guest soloists and also their junior choir who will perform several songs on the night including Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’.

The Kerry Choral Senior and Junior Choir will perform at St Brendan’s later this month.

The Choir’s repertoire will include ‘The Last Words of David’ by Randall Thompson, ‘Seal Lullaby’ by Eric Whiteacre, songs from Les Misérables, ‘Bring Hime Home’ and ‘One Day More’ and other favourites, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, ‘Ireland’s Call’ and ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’ for a rousing finale. Music Director is Sharon Reidy and accompanist Áine Hurley.

‘There has been a very good response from previous years for this spring concert and we will be expecting a huge crowd again,” said Chairman, Joe Cotter.

Kerry Choral Union Senior Choir is a mixed choir of over 70 members which has been active in the cultural life of Tralee and its environs for more than 30 years.

The Kerry Choral Union Junior Choir has a membership of 20, and it performs regularly with the Senior Choir. Both choirs sing a varied repoitoire which  appeals to a huge audience.

The choir rehearses in Collis Sandes every Wednesday night from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. It welcomes new members at any time and all that is required of aspiring singers is that they enjoy the music.
