KERRY County Council has appointed Parkway Contracts Ltd to construct four new housing units in Tralee.

The houses are being provided under the government’s Rebuilding Ireland programme at a cost of just over €700,000.

The units, which will be constructed at Bill Kinnerk Road, Oakpark, will include two three-bedroom semi-detached houses and two four-bedroom semi-detached units.

Construction is due to begin next week with a completion period of twelve months.

The contract for the project was signed at County Buildings in Tralee in the presence of the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Michael O’Shea, and the Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell.

Welcoming the signing of the contract, Mayor O’Brien said the additional housing units would greatly assist in providing homes to those on the local authority waiting list.

“I am delighted to see the further rollout of Kerry County Council’s house-building programme in conjunction with the Department of Housing and Rebuilding Ireland programme. These new units will help to address the needs of applicants on the housing waiting lists in the area and I look forward to their completion at the earliest opportunity,” said Mayor O’Brien.

4 new housing units at a cost of just over €700,000?
In todays economic climate the Kerry County Council should be able to do a lot better!
LOL, the Joke is on the tax payer.

    • 700000 for four houses? What’s going on? And you’d swear they were announcing a 200 house development with the amount of them around the table. 11 of them would make a good start to building a house but sure all they are doing is talking about it. Ridiculous waste of time. 11 people to announce 4 houses. Unbelievable

Hope those Houses are for our Tralee Locals born and bred
