Cllr Deirdre Ferris.

KERRY County Council will look into the possibility of using derelict structures in their ownership along the Tralee-Fenit Greenway.

It follows a motion from Sinn Fein Cllr Deirdre Ferris at Monday’s meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council.

Cllr Ferris asked would Tralee MD utilise the derelict structures (railway cottages) along the Greenway. She said the cottages were boarded up, didn’t look good at the moment and asked that they be tidied up.

Cllr Sam Locke seconded the motion and said there could be opportunities for businesses at the structures in the future.

In reply, the Council said they will look at the feasibility of utilising the derelict structures in their ownership along the Greenway.

The appraisal of the structures will consider the structural condition, environmental sensitivity, accessibility, disposal commitments, heritage value and any works recommended will be subject to the receipt of an appropriate funding source.
