“We get people from all ages in the group, it’s great to see the progression each week,” said Jerry Lee.

A huge motivator to get people out on the bike has been opportunity to raise some money for a chosen charity.

First time Ring of Kerry hopeful, Lisa O’Donoghue, decided to do her bit for Enable Ireland, where her son avails of some of their services.

“The group is fantastic, most of us have started from scratch. We’re all able to cycle some of the Ring at the moment, but I don’t know if we can do the whole lot just yet!” said Lisa.

“We did the Conor Pass last week and that was extremely difficult, but other than that it’s been grand. We’ve all progressed so much and made great friends along the way,” said Lisa.

Margaret O’Shea, is in her first year with the group and has nominated the Kerry Hospice as her chosen charity, because of the help they have provided members of her family.

“The group now, is like another family” said Margaret O’Shea.

“We continue the cycles right through the year so it’s not just for the Ring of Kerry, we head off every Saturday. It’s fantastic and great exercise, as you can see we’re all so slim!” said Margaret.
