THE Darkness Into Light Tralee group will open for registration for this May’s event at their temporary headquarters in the town centre on Saturday
The Darkness Into Light group has been allowed to use the premises on Castle Street, which used to be Divas and Dudes, for the next few months.
All funds raised from the May 6 event will go directly to Pieta House. They provide one to one counselling free of charge for people who have attempted suicide, people who have suicidal ideation and people who engage in self harm. Pieta House is encouraging people not to be afraid to ask for help.

It costs approximately €1,000 for Pieta House to help one person, to pay counsellors and for upkeep of the house, so fundraising is very important for them.
Pat Turner, who does a lot of fundraising for Pieta House, said; “We’re so thankful. I really can’t say enough about the people in the town, and the businesses. It’s a community effort. There’s nobody who hasn’t been touched by suicide. That’s what I’m here for. To help others and make sure they don’t go through the hell we went through.”
Registration will begin at the Castle Street office on Saturday, March 11, from 1pm to 5pm, and will continue up until the day of the walk on May 6 which takes place at 4.15am from CBS The Green.
Registration costs €25 per person, or €20 per person for a group of more than 5 people. There is also an early bird offer of €20 if you register early, and U14’s can go free with a registered adult.
