A TRALEE girl was an early star of ‘The Late Late Toy Show’ tonight.

Eight year old Saoirse Moynihan, a pupil in Caherleaheen NS, was a guest on the show and received a special message from none other than David Williams.

First though, Saoirse spoke to host Ryan Tubridy about her two fish, Nemo and Splash and rabbit Fiddles and explained that she wanted to be a vet when she grows up because she loves taking care of animals.

To demonstrate, she examined her patient, ‘Toby Tubridy’ the toy dog, and performed a coronavirus test on him. Poor Toby — who had three known contacts with other teddies — had the virus and so Saoirse had to knock him out to administer the Pfizer vaccine, much to the amusement of the host. (see tweet below)

Ryan explained how Saoirse had written many letters during lockdown to friends including the local parish priest and famous people like President Higgins (asking him if he many girlfriends when he was younger) and famous TV star and author, David Williams.

David Walliams sends a special message to Saoirse.

To Saoirse’s surprise, Ryan said they contacted Walliams and he sent her a special message where he answered her questions.

Walliams then said he was going to send Saoirse some presents including a signed copy of his new book ‘Codename Bananas’, a framed print from an illustration in the book, a boxset of his books and a cuddly gorilla called Gertrude, the main character in ‘Codename Bananas’.

Saoirse was clearly thrilled with her presents and will always remember her Toy Show appearance.
