Former Kerry Star Mark O’Connor Close To Multi-Year Deal With AFL Side

ANYONE hoping for a swift return of Mark O’Connor to help Kerry to an All-Ireland title will have their hopes dashed this morning if news from Australia is to be believed.

The website AFL.com.au is reporting today that the former Kerry minor and Under 21 star is set to sign a multi-year deal with his club Geelong in the next month.

He signed a one-year extension to his contract in June of last year, but has impressed to such an extent this season, that the club wish to secure his services long term.

Having only played seven games for the first team in the previous two seasons, the Dingle native has played in all nine games this season where the first team has an 8-1 record.

O’Connor has expressed his desire to come back to Kerry at some stage to play for the seniors and help them win an All-Ireland title, but that dream will have to wait a while if he decides to commit to the AFL club.
