The proceeds raised from the race will go towards the continued development of the club’s training facilities at Dan Spring Rd.

So far the club has invested almost €600,000 through grants and loans since they took over the field, in drainage, new field and by end of September there will be 300m of running track and a full long jump area. The facility is available to all groups for training.

Tralee Harriers Chair Martin Fitzgerald said; “This is one of the biggest fundraisers that the club has and it continues to be a very popular race bringing in runners from all over, especially those connected with the festival”.

Martin thanked the sponsors and the festival for their continued support of the club, “we are in continuing development phases and the changes to the training grounds will provide a popular facility for all runners to be able to use, with track lanes for running and walking.

Martin continued; “We are very proud to have two of our top athletes here today. Travane Morrison recent gold medal winner of the Irish National Senior 100m and Cillian Griffin who won two medals for Ireland at the recent U18 Youth Nationals International, both of these athletes along with the entire club have benefitted from the laying track lanes and we expect more athletes at elite level with another 200m being laid in the coming weeks.”

The prize have been extended this year, with the usual top three Male and Female finishers, there will be the over age categories, and are also introducing First returning Rose, First Past Escort, and First Family member of 2019Rose contestant. There will be several other prizes on the day for the over’s categories and selected paraathletes. Each runner that registers will receive a commemorative T-shirt and Medal.

Paul Griffin Tralee Harriers PRO, said: “It is great event for the town the festival and for runners. The race regularly attracts up to 500 competitors, who get to see Tralee and can experience the town and the festival at its best after their morning run. We are really looking forward to the day and hope that everyone will once again enjoy taking part. We had a very successful event last year and are keeping it the same this year with bands, music along the course. We have several returning roses and escorts who will be battling it out for a commissioned glass trophy. Our refreshment stand will be well stocked and the local business have come out to in great numbers and helped us, we would be at a loss without the continued support of Tralee town”

The Tralee Harriers, Rose of Tralee 10km is proudly sponsored by The Kerry’s Eye, Byrne’s Spar & Radar Retail.
