Junior Co League Final:

Peter Nammock. team captain being presented with trophy by Eamon Whelan Kerry Co Board

Our Juniors had a great victory in the Final of the Co League against Moyvane which was played in Finuge on Friday night.

We played with the wind in the first half but Moyvane kicked the opening 3 points before we responded with a long range score from Pat Kearney. Moyvane continued to play the better football in the opening half but further scores from Cathal Sullivan, Pat Kearney and Conor Hurley kept us in touch as Moyvane went in leading 5 points to 4 points at half time.

We started the 2nd half much better and were rewarded shortly after with a well taken goal by Mikey Walsh to go 2 points in front. George Bastible followed up with a good point before Jarlath Carney scored our 2nd goal to put us 6 points up with 15 minutes remaining.

Further points from Pat Kearney, Sean Moloney and Cian Holden put us 9 points up before a late goal from Moyvane saw us run out deserving winners on  a final score of 2-9 to 1-6.

Well done to all the panel and management on a great County League campaign.

Winning team and management after presentation.

GARDA OPEN DAY:
The Garda had an Open Day in our Complex last Saturday. It involved various divisions of the Gardai including the Drug Squad, Garda Mounted Equine Crowd Control, Traffic Corps, Garda Helicopter, Fire Brigade etc.

The occasion was attended by many of the Roses and their Escorts and it was an opportunity for the Public to meet the Roses up close as they mingled among the crowd with their Escorts.

All this was free for families and it was a fantastic opportunity for the John Mitchels Club to showcase their facilities  which was remarked on by many who had hadn’t visited the Complex previously.

Many thanks to Humphrey and his staff who had the facilities looking in pristine conditions and lastly the volunteers who ran the shop for the day.
