UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

82 boys and girls took to the astro turf in ballyseedy Sunday morning.  Training was in glorious sunshine and massive improvements were visible. Great fun was had by all and the post training ice-cream was well deserved.

Training continues Sunday mornings at 11 am in our Ballyseedy complex.  New members always welcome

Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

U8/U10 GIRLS

The fine weather and the fact that the all-weather floodlit pitch was back in action saw our u8 and U10 girls moved off the Astro and onto grass for the first time this season.

And like young lambs getting their first taste of grass, there was plenty of high-spirited running and jumping throughout the training session, with plenty of competitiveness and skill on show during the training session.

After some early warm-up drills the action began with shooting drills and competitive drills, where the girls were busy trying to defend their areas as their markers tried to get past them, while the tackle bags also got a going-over.

This led to a competitive training match at the end and it was really nice to see the girls transfer the skills they are learning during the drills, into competitive match-action, with some excellent scores kicked.

Sophie’s excellent point from a tight angle was declared the score of the day, with Caoimhe, Siun, Aine and Millie also standing out, while Ally, Roisin, Casey, Amberleigh, Emma, Caoimhe, Aideen, Tegan, Charlie, Michaela, and Ava worked really hard.

Training continues next Sunday at 10.30am in the Mitchel’s complex in Ballyseedy and as ever, we are delighted to welcome new faces. Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

U12 girls training takes place on Sunday afternoons from 12.30-2.00pm and Wednesdays from 6.30-8.00pm. The girls are just over halfway through their North Kerry League after 2 narrow losses and a win so far. The girls continue to train hard and look forward to their next run out.

All newcomers are welcome to train at the above times and days.

Do not forget to fill out the return to play before each session.

Under 14/16 girls

Mitchel’s u14 girls hosted Churchill in the County league division 2 on Wednesday evening. The visitors ran out winners in the end, after a closely fought contest for most of the match. Some great scores from both teams and a great game of football was enjoyed on a warm humid evening in Ballyseedy.

Another stern test awaits the Mitchel’s u14s as they travel to Scartaglin for the next round of the league Sunday evening. Training continues Wednesdays 6.30-8.00pm
Newcomer’s welcome. Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

UNDER 9 BOYS

Na Gael came to town this beautiful June morning for u9 Go Games. They brought with them 4 brilliant teams who gave our boys some very good games.

Our main pitch was divided into four pitches for the morning with teams being swapped around.

The skills on show by our boys was immense. The hop and solo were to the fore with all players very comfortable on the ball and some of scoring from both sides was absolutely brilliant.

Well done to Mark Mac and his team of mentors and referees for organising the pitches and ensuring all kids had a great time. Thanks to all parents and guardians for bringing their kids along and thanks to Na Gael for coming to our home and providing a great morning of football entertainment.

Training for u9 boys continues this Wednesday evening 5.30 to 6.30.

All Newcomers welcome

There were good numbers at training again on Sunday & this continues every Sunday morning from 10.15 to 11.30. The coaches are on site from 10.00 so there is no problem if parents want to drop off early, new players are always welcome. Please bring your gum shield & water.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Another fine summer’s evening and a perfect night for football saw the much-anticipated visit of Laune Rangers to us in Ballyseedy.

GOLD TEAM

Our Golds had suffered from a slow start in both games so far, but they learned their lesson well, striking for 2 early goals. The visitors came more into the game as the half wore on, closing the gap to just a goal at half time.

Playing with the wind in the 2nd half, the Golds dominated possession and pegged on some nice scores but were also passing up some serious opportunities. This left the door open for Laune Rangers who pressed hard, but our lads defended resolutely and added a few more points to seal victory. It is great to see the improvement coming every week from the Golds and the younger players are really starting to find their feet, ably assisted by the more experienced lads.

John Mitchel’s Gold 4-13

Laune Rangers 3-9

GREEN TEAM

In the 2nd game this evening, the Greens faced the only side to defeat them last season. Laune Rangers themselves were coming off of a surprise defeat to Firies last weekend and from the first whistle they played like a team with only making amends on their minds. The visitors dominated the early exchanges scoring some nice points and a well taken goal, while the Greens struggled to make it out of their own half. We eventually settled and scored a goal of our own but needed to convert more to the scoreboard during this time. Laune Rangers continued to dominate in all sectors until half time, picking off some great scores and leaving the Greens with a mountain to climb at the break.

We came more into the game in the second half and all credit to the Greens, they never stopped battling throughout the second half, scoring four goals in a spirited display. There was no denying the men from Killorglin though and they ran out easy winners on the night. Laune Rangers looked like a battle hardened team this evening and perhaps a lack of a true test in our first two games may have worked against us. Based on the display this evening though, it is hard to see any team in the county living with this powerful Laune Rangers team when they play to their best.

John Mitchels Green 5-7

Laune Rangers 5-22

Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 5.45pm

UNDER 15 BOYS

John Mitchel’s u15’s travelled to fossa Wednesday evening for their 3rd game in the division with the weather perfect for football Mitchel’s got off to a good start maintaining the high level of football throughout the game yet again everyone performed to a high standard and work rate not giving fossa any momentum to get going.

Mitchel’s were merciless from the get go with some beautiful football played and top class scoring it’s getting harder every game to name a man of the match with every individual in great form James Roche took all the pressure off our defence with he’s huge kick outs midfield we’re outstanding paddy mc was subbed at half time with a thumb injury but nothing too serious thank god, all our forwards got on the score sheet with a final score of Mitchel’s 9-16 Fossa 1-3 we continue training every Monday and Friday @6-45 a big thank you to the parents that travelled with their players to the game next week sees us away to Templenoe and hopefully we’ll have the same support as the last away game hopefully we can keep this winning run going it’s great for team morale

SENIOR LADIES

Our senior ladies played there first game of the year last night v Beale in very windy conditions , every ball was contested fiercely and scores were hard earned with Mitchel’s 3 points to 1 point up at half time , again the third quarter was nip and tuck with Mitchel’s now leading 6-3 going into the final quarter , with fresh legs introduced we got a foothold on the game and a succession of quick points put us 10-3 points up entering the final minutes when birthday girl Linda O Connor struck for a well taken goal after great teamwork in the build-up leaving final score Mitchel’s 1-10 Beale 0-3.It was a good start where great effort by all and the introduction of some younger players to senior ladies football. CLUB COFFEE SHOP

We will have our little coffee shop open every Sunday for teas coffees and little treats.

All money raised goes to the upkeep of the club and for equipment for the juveniles.

We would like if all parents could support this as with no fundraising we are limited to funds. We introduced ice-creams and ice pops to the shop this week and they were a big hit. Everyone was kept cool after a lovely ice-cream after training Thanks to Hugh Maureen Linda and Sonya for running the shop so smoothly each week. We also welcomed another helper to the shop this week Ava Buckley from the senior ladies’ team.

Enjoy a tea or a coffee while your child is at training. Looking forward to seeing you all every Sunday from 10.00- 12.00
