UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

The under 7s had a break this week so they could support their county team

Training commences again next Sunday July 17th from 10.30am-11.30am

New players always welcome

U8/U10/GIRLS

The girls had a rest last week due to participation in the Kellogg’s Cúl Camps being held in John Mitchels and to also support the Kerry team who faced Dublin in the semi final on Sunday.

Training commences again on Wednesday 13th from 6.30pm-7.30pm

We look forward to seeing you all there

New players always welcome.

U12 Girls

On Wednesday evening the u12 girls had an intense but fun training session. The turn out of players was very good considering most of the players were involved in the Cúl Camp which was taking place during the week

The competitive nature was very clear to see from the girls .

The girls worked on several drills but the highlight would have to have been the orange  v yellow bib match where both teams played excellently.

The girls were able to demonstrate all they have learned throughout the year.

There was no  training this Sunday as it was the  girls first break from training and matches since the start of the year.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening at 7pm until 8pm. Gumshields mandatory.

New players always welcome.

U14 GIRLS

John Mitchel’s 7-8Ballymacelligott 1-5.

After a break of a week, the John Mitchels girls were back in competitive action on Saturday night when they made the short trip out to Ballymacelligott for a local derby.

With a number of players missing, it meant that our panel strength was tested and they came through in colours, with a 7-8 to 1-5 victory.

The platform for success was laid at midfield, where Ellie Rahilly and Amy Noonan worked like engines throughout, closing down the opposition, carrying the ball deep upfield and setting up our forwards.

Our deadly duo of Kerri Falvey and Lisa O’Shea in the full forward line were lively throughout and couldn’t be stopped.

In the opening half it was the Kerri Falvey show, as she opened the scoring with a point, before fine teamwork set her up for three goals in a row.

This settled the team, with Lisa O’Shea and Kerri adding further points before Ballymac opened their account. Two late points from Ellie Rahilly and Kerri made it a 3-5 to 0-2 half time lead.

This wasn’t to say that the Mitchel’s defence had nothing to do. Time and again they had to be sharp to stop dangerous Ballymac attacks,  with Eabha Mullen, Ava Sharma, Nicole Hennig, Sadhbh Corkery and Gia Sharma rock solid.

And when Ballymac broke through that, captain Grace O’Regan was super cool in goals, with some important blocks.

The second half saw Ballymac up their game and they grabbed 2 early points  before Kerri scored her fourth goal. Lisa O’Shea scored a Mitchel’s point, but it wasn’t the end of the scoring as she grabbed a further 2-2 in the final quarter, the half forward line of Brigid Stewart and Ella McCannon using a huge amount of ball.

A further goal from Ellie Reidy settled the game comprehensively in Mitchel’s favor.

Given the warm weather, it was important to give players a rest and the substitutes played their part, with Kelly O’Sullivan,  Rhianna O’Brien, Chloe O’Brien, Katelyn Laide, Ciara Harris, Ella Dennehy, Ella O’Brien and Laya Bauschlicher all coming on during the game and ensuring the tempo never dropped.

The results to date should bring us close to reaching through final of the competition with our game this week at home to Laune Rangers very important.

Training continues during the week and players will be contacted about training and game times
