Favourite with the players today was catch the coach. Training continues Sunday mornings at 11am in our Ballyseedy complex. Everyone welcome.

Everyone had great fun with some fantastic skills on display. Well done to everyone. Training continues next Sunday morning at 11am in our Ballyseedy complex. Everyone is welcome

Under 8 and 10 Girls

Our u8 & u10 girls continued training today. We started with a warmup and progressed to picking, blocking and tackling skills. A short piggy in the middle game and match followed, where the girls put their skills into practice. U14 and u16 girls enjoying their training session Friday evening.

Under 14 Girls

The John Mitchels u14 players, coaches and club wish send their deepest condolences to U14 coach John McCannon and his family on the sudden passing of his brother David last week. David’s nieces, Ella and Nicole line out for our club teams.

Training for the u14s continues this week, with training on Mondays from 6-7 and Thursdays 7-8. The girls joined up with the u16 team for an inter-club challenge game, last Monday night which proved to be a tough game in wet conditions, but proved to be very helpful in getting up to match fitness.

A challenge game against Kerins O’Rahillys last Thursday was postponed due to the bad weather conditions, but it is hoped to reschedule it this week.

Under 16 Girls

The under 16s started the week off with an internal challenge game mixed with U14’s & U16’s Monday night from 7-8. The conditions were wet and windy but that didn’t stop the girls from showing a display of talent, skill execution and the inter linking of players moving the ball up and down the pitch.

The girl’s are really settling into the routine of training with two sessions a week out on the pitch Monday 7-8pm & Friday 8-9pm. We welcome & encourage any new or past players to come along and give it a try. Overall the group are all progressing well both individually and as a team.

Under 9 Boys

John Mitchels U9 Boys had another great training session on Sunday. It was outdoors again in our Astro Pitch thanks to the mild weather conditions. This week our lads practiced hand passing & catching in group’s of 3. We are only back 3 weeks & it is incredible to see improvements already but like our coaches keep saying practice, practice, practice!! Our next meeting is Friday for our Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade! Everyone Welcome in what’s always a great family affair. Full details to follow during the week.

Under 11 Boys

Sunday was a great morning seeing great numbers again. The boys started off with a warm up and then practiced the core skills of the game. They finished off with a 3 small sided games to which the coaches saw great skills and determination. Well done to all.

Under 13 Boys

The U13 Green team got their second win of the Season with a 1:14 to 2:07 win over Ardfert away from home. The weather was poor causing a slippy ball and made handling difficult. Calvin was imperious from dead balls and kept the score board ticking over when the game was getting close.

All the forwards chipped in, and the midfield and backs worked tirelessly to keep Ardfert honest. Congratulations to both teams and the referee on a great display of football.

The U13 gold team fell to a strong Ballymac outfit in Division 3 of the town league by a scoreline of 2:07 to 3:15. A young Mitchels team fought hard, but the weather made it difficult for the younger boys to compete for a wet ball while trying to play through the lines. Congratulations to both teams and the referee on a great display.

Under 15 Boys

The boys trained last week on Tuesday and Friday with a good turn out on both evenings. We play Stacks in a challenge match next Wednesday evening time to be confirmed. Further details to follow and please bring gum shields and water
