SENIOR TEAM – Co League Round 10:

We played Dingle at home in a must win game in Round 10 of the Co League last Sunday afternoon. The calm and dry conditions made it a perfect day for playing football. John Mitchels opened the game at a frantic pace scoring two points, one each from Shane O’Connor and Alan O’Donoghue. This was followed by a well taken goal by Ciaran Deane and points from Niall Sheehy and Wayne Duggan giving Mitchels a commanding lead of 1-04 to no score after 12 minutes of play. Dingle rallied scoring two points but Mitchels replied with an excellent Wayne Duggan goal leaving the score 2-04 to 0-02 heading for half time. Dingle hit a purple patch before half time scoring three points from play leaving the half time score John Mitchels 2-04, Dingle 0-05.

Mitchels opened the 2nd half with the same intensity with points from Niall Sheehy and Alan O’Donoghue followed by a 2nd goal from Wayne Duggan. Dingle replied with two points leaving the score line at John Mitchels 3-06 Dingle 0-07 heading for the last quarter. Mitchels scored a further three points one each from Alan O’Donoghue, Laurence Bastible and Wayne Duggan while Dingle could only reply with one point. Mitchels were now completely dominant heading for full time and scored a further three points one each from Ciaran Deane, Alan O’Donoghue and Niall Sheehy. This was a very impressive display by our Senior team and they now face Kerins O’Rahillys in the last round of the League knowing that a win will secure their place in Division 1 for next season.

Unfortunately Wayne Duggan went off with a leg injury in the 2nd half after giving a tremendous performance throughout the match and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Round 11: Away to Kerins O’Rahilly’s 4th September @ 2.00 p.m.
