U12 GIRLS

U12 Strand Road Blues team with great smiles and attitude as always after their debut in Strand Road v Spa, Killarney in the Co. League

STRAND ROAD BLUES TEAM
Last Wednesday evening our girls made their debut in Strand Road’s main pitch when they met top of the league table,  Spa , Killarney in Rd. 3 of the Co. League, division 7. We  had an extremely challenging match against our opposition and gave them  a run for their money at times during the game .  Despite great efforts we lost to the Spa. There was some great football and teamwork on display. U10s, Sennait Forster and Aoibhinn Corridon did great work at the back, Ava O’ Shea who has only started this year had great drive in her. Molly Casey was outstanding in goals , whilst Lexi Keane ( who went off injured) and Kelly Hayes were our top scorers.
Well done to everyone. The coaches couldn’t have asked for more from the team! Superb work rate throughout and an excellent display of football!
Final Score :
Strand Road Blues 3-05
Spa, Killarney          5-05
Next Tuesday, we are away to Laune Rangers in J.P. O’ Sullivan Park. Best of luck to all!

Unfortunately because of Covid restrictions this year’s  ladies U15s Féile is being postponed until March 2022. Disappointing we know but sure it’s something to look forward to early next year. Remember “no child will be left behind “. In 2022 KLGFA are planning to have this years Féile for this year’s U15s who will then be U16. Féile 2022 will then take place at the end of next Summer.

Next up is championship. Details to follow during the week.

Juvenile notes We were overwhelmed by the amount of people signing their children up for camp again this year. It has been great to have that bit of normality back. Shortly everyone will be returning to school and it will be back to the grindstone  with school work and home work. Remember it’s very important that your children have some outlet….team sports are great for them. It’s also great for us Moms and Dads as we also get to meet people after a long week and enjoy a chat and a cuppa during training.
Why not bring along some of your school friends and see if they will give team sport a go. Remember, everyone is welcome! And of course every week everyone gets their little treat after training for all their brilliant work, enthusiasm and just fantastic smiling faces .
U5 BOYS
The boys as always had great fun with their awesome, encouraging   coaches Barry John Keane and Brian Daly . This is the foundation of where our young men start learning their skills and will be our future stars in years to come. Come along and join our thriving club.
“Players of the Week” for the week ending August 15th were Rian Hobbert who is really getting to enjoy his football and Kerrisk Daly who also loves practicing at home. Keep up the great work boys!

U6 GIRLS
The foundation of our ladies to come… Our enthusiastic, cheerful and energetic girls had a ball as always and of course like all young ladies love to take time out discussing who should be doing what… Our emphasis always is on fun and involvement and then the skills. Last Sunday we worked on kicking which the girls enjoyed. Our girls are broken into small groups with their coaches so that every girl gets equal time and attention.
Well done to last week’s “Player of the Week” Jessa Diggins who recently turned 4. Jessa had her mascot to support her today, her duck who was wearing his Kerry jersey, so so cute ..

U7 BOYS

A few of Kerins O’ Rahilly U7 Boys who hosted Kilcummin in Healy Park last Sunday for Go Games

Well done to the U7 boys who played host to Kilcummin in Ballyrickard last Sunday morning in their most recent Go Games. Great spirit and skills on display from both teams despite the damp conditions but at least the rain held off!  Many thanks to Kilcummin for making the trip and for some very enjoyable matches. It’s great to see so many parent coming to encourage their sons, it’s great for their confidence. Thank you!
The boys will be in action again soon with more Go Games coming up.
Bring a friend or friends to training.
Thanks as always to our coaches for the time they give.

U8 GIRLS
Our under 8 girls were back to training last Sunday after a few weeks of games. The coaches covered skills and played a fun game at the end of training. All the girls showed massive improvement in all areas. Our player of the week this week is Ella Carroll. Well done Ella and very well deserved.

U9 BOYS

U9 players taking time out during their training session

A great performance by our U9’s against  John Mitchels and a  fantastic attitude against your opponents. Both teams played great football and made for great viewing for all the parents.

U10 Girls
Our U10 girls always turn up with great enthusiasm and energy to training. Our coaches are delighted to see their skills improving each week. All girls put in their best effort and always give 100% when training and playing games. Our player of the week this week is Holly Pierce, well done Holly and very well deserved.

END OF AN ERA
Stalwarts, Eileen and Jimmy Moran have served our community for the past 34 years. And now it is time for them to go enjoy their retirement. This wonderful couple will lock Jimmy’s door for the last time this  Friday 20th August.
We all can reflect on how united we have been as a community through the tough times over the years especially with the help of the Moran family. During lockdown , more than ever we saw and appreciated how strong a part of our Strand Road team and our greater community reaching out to help others.
As a club we are proud of you always helping and representing our parish and community.
You are both true friends to all of us here. You will be missed. Thank you for everything you have done over the years. Enjoy your retirement!
Come on down Friday to see Eileen and Jimmy off, more details will be posted on our social media outlets.
Best of luck to Mary McLoughlin and her sister Eileen Shanahan who are no strangers to our community and will reopen the shop. We wish you every success in the future and look forward to supporting you. Mary and Eileen will be leaving the name “Jimmys”over our local food store.
