AGM: The club AGM took place last Friday night before a good sized attendance in Strand Road. Tony Corridon, secretary,  presenting his first annual report thanked all in the club for their co operation and support in helping him in his role which certainly made life easier for him. In particular he thanked the senior management team for their help with team lineouts, along with county board delegate Dan Walsh and town board rep Eamon Griffin for their updates following meetings.

Chairman Haulie Kerins, also presenting his first annual report thanked a no of people for their commitment during the year and was most grateful to the senior management team of Micheál, Morgan, Maurice and John who took the team to a county semi final and retained our Division 1 status – the town board championship was also retained during the year.

An unfortunate series of injuries in the semi final vs South Kerry did not help our chances, eventually going down by a point; South Kerry were the better team on the day and were themselves only beaten a point by Dr Crokes in the final.

Haulie paid tribute to Morgan, Maurice and John as they relinquish their posts for the coming year and wished Micheál and his new management team ( yet to be announced) all the best for 2018.

In a wide ranging report Haulie also thanked Eugene McGrath and Declan Quill, managers of the U-21s & minors respectively, for their work during the year – he also wished Declan well in his role as Kerry rep of the CPA.

The junior management team of Eugene, Barry , Ken & Liam were also praised for their efforts which saw the junior team win their league grouping with a great win over Spa.
The off field activities such as 10k run, Strictly Come Dancing and State of Mind initiative were also mentioned as being very important events for the club and community in Strand Road.

All sponsors were thanked for their contributions which help the club function throughout the year with a special thanks to Mossie Kelly, main sponsor who has again committed to the club for 218.

In wrapping up his address, Haulie stated that he was introducing two special awards to acknowledge the outstanding work done by individuals during the year – Shirley Doody was a very deserving of the ladies award  with club PRO Pat Flavin being acknowledged for his endeavours across a variety of initiatives during the year.

Charlies Bar: This coming January will mark the end of an era when current hosts Tom and Eileen O’Shea will hand over the keys to a new incumbent after 30 years in charge. In that time they have been great ambassadors for the club and the community and have provided a first rate service to all customers and patrons over the years. They will be sorely missed but always welcome and we hope to see plenty of them on the other side of the counter in the coming years.
Invitations to tender for lease of the bar/bistro will be published shortly and anyone interested in taking over the business should submit their application via this channel.

Lotto: The lotto jackpot of €10,300 was not won on Monday night last where the winning numbers drawn were: 16, 19, 20 & 23. Gerard Casey won €25 when matching 3 numbers.

The five entrants for the special December draw are: Tara Foran, John Lucid, Patricia Flynn, Laura & Sean Crowley and Kay & Rochelle Hoffman.
Next week’s jackpot will be for a prize of €10, 400.
