Juvenile News
Last Saturday morning was our last morning training for the U6/8/10 boys and girls. It was a great morning with brilliant sun shining on top of us. We welcomed the U8 and U10 boys from An Gealtacht and there were some great games played with nothing being held back.
There was some great rivalry going on between the Kennedys (Tomas and Ruairi) and their “back west” cousins the Corduffs.  We hope to return the visit in March or April when we start back again.
Earlier in the week we had asked the parents to bring some refreshments to have with a tea or coffee after training. We want to say a massive thank you to all who contributed. We were inundated with some fabulous treats.
We ended up taking three boxes of cakes/buns etc up Adapt who were very grateful to us. The season is now over for this year. Well done to all the coaches from U6s right up to the U16s. To Edmond, Paudie and Nigel for always having the pitches, jerseys etc ready for all the teams.
To Paul Hayes and Mike Walsh for refereeing all year for us. To the hard working committee who keep it all going all year and finally to the parents and the players for their commitment to training and games all year.
We will be having a Christmas Party for the Saturday morning club in a few weeks, probably on the 11th Dec to coincide with our Christmas Fair but this is yet to be confirmed and a text will be sent out when all details are finalised.   We will also have an awards night for the U12s, U14s and U16s and that will be a busy night because we will have a lot of awards to hand out after a very successful year. Details of this night and also of the Juvenile AGM will be sent out via text once the dates are confirmed.
On Thursday evening last in Caherslee our U15 team played Austin Stacks in a County Board mini blitz. We were beaten by 3 points but the boys played extremely well and only for 4 great saves by Stacks keeper the result could have been very different. A big thank you to Joe Fitzgerald for having the team ready for this game.
Ladies News
U12 girls – After a great year with training sessions twice a week, matches and trips to other clubs and blitzes, Friday last was the girls last training session. They trained in Strand Road and were treated to drinking chocolate, home made cookies , Rice Krispie buns and maltesers afterwards. Thanks to our hard working coaches Marie, Danny, Rory and Paddy. Thanks to the U12 Moms and Dads for all your support during the year. It was great to see you at the matches supporting our girls. Thanks to everyone for helping out with the teas, coffees and cakes for home games. Thanks Edmond, Paudie and Nigel for always obliging us and having the pitch, dressing rooms and jerseys ready for us. That’s not quite it for the year. The girls will have a day out together coming up and the Christmas Fair and party on Sunday, December 11th. Best of luck to our girls that are moving up to the U14s next year. Many thanks U12 coaches! If you have any queries contact Marie Nix on 0879734923.
U14 girls – Report on U14 girls final North Kerry Win. Played on fabulous sunny day in Dingle the under 14 girls headed onto the pitch in what was the deciding game in the North Kerry Board Division 3 league. Prior to throw in there was the opportunity for some photographs with Kerry senior player Paul Geaney.
After that it was down to the business of the day. It was a tentative start for the Kerins O’Rahillys girls knowing that if they triumphed in this game they were heading home with silverware. They started with a couple of points but then followed with a few wides, possibly still giddy from their meeting with Mr. Geaney.
Midway through the first half they started to put the passes together and the scores soon followed. They kicked some great scores and even though the girls from Dingle put up a brave showing, the O’Rahillys girls were much stronger.
A few substitutes at half time and these girls showed their mettle. This under 14 team is a very balanced team with starters and subs of equal value to the team. At the final whistle the Strand Road girls were worthy winners and Captain Siobhan Griffin accepted the trophy and did herself proud with an exhilarating speech. Thanks to all the players all year for all their continued hard work in making this team a great team. A big thank you to all the parents for their support all through this year.

The girls are training with Manager Jerome Linnane and mentors Mark and Aishling. Contact Jerome for information on 0876114661
