Seniors: A team much weakened by injuries , exams and J1s saw us go down to a much more experienced side in Rathmore on Sat evening on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 0-05.

Making no less than 7 changes from our previous outing with Austin Stacks we played with the breeze in the first half but as expected faced an uphill battle when Rathmore hit us for two goals inside the opening 10 minutes.

We were on the back foot for the remainder of the half, struggling to cope with the pace and physicality of our opponents with many of our side new to Division 1 football – half time saw us trail 2-07 to 0-04 and the margin could have been greater but for the efforts of Ross O’Callaghan, Danny O’Sullivan & Karl Mullins in an over worked defence.

On the resumption we lost Rory Molloy, Gearoid Savage  & John C O’Connor to injuries but we defended well and limited the opposition to 6 second half points – we created some good chances but failed to make the most of our opportunities to trouble the score board.

Gearoid Dillane making his debut showed plenty of promise and was rewarded for his game efforts when landing a point in the second half. It was good to see so many of our younger players getting some game time which will stand to them in the weeks ahead as the county league continues throughout the summer months.

Team: Killian Moran, Andrew Thompson, Ross O’Callaghan, Danny O’Sullivan, Jason O’Leary, Karl Mullins, Gary Nolan, Cian Sayers, John C O’Connor, Shane Flavin, Rory Molloy, Padraig Griffin, John Keane, Gearoid Savage ( 0-2), John Ferguson ( 0-2). Subs: Kieran O’Connor, John Dillane, Gearoid Dillane ( 0-01) & Rob O’Connor.
Strand Rd: We took on Killarney Legion on Monday night last ( 5th June) in a round 3 league game and after a satisfactory performance we emerged winners on a final score line of 2-12 to 1-05.

Playing with the strong breeze in the first half we dictated matters from midfield where Rory Molloy & Chucky  were outstanding and with our backs well in control, particularly Jason O’Leary at full back and Seán Collins at corner back, Legion found scores hard to come by and our forwards were being supplied with plenty of ball- they made good use of it and with Shane Flavin knocking over two points plus a goal from Daniel Nix ( on as a substitute for the injured Gazza) we led by seven points at half time, 1-06 to 0-02.

The expected fight back from Legion did not materialise on the turnover principally due to the fine work of Johnny Keane tracking back from the “40”, Rory Molloy and Chucky keeping up their good work it all resulted in us tacking on another 1-06 into the breeze, the goal coming from Seán Collins supporting the forwards with a score that wrapped up the game.

Our next game in this competition is on Fri 23rd June away to Dingle. We will have Tralee town league prior to this when we take on John Mitchels this coming Monday night 12th June in the opening round of this competition.

Team: Rob O’Connor, Sean Collins (1-0), Jason O’Leary, Gary Nolan, Kieran O’Connor, James O’Connor, Shane O’Sullivan, Rory Molloy ( 0-1), Ryan Carroll, James Lyons, John Keane ( 0-01), Seán Griffin, John Dillane, Gearoid Savage, Shane Flavin ( 0-6, 3fs); subs Daniel Nix ( 1-02), Jack Short ( 0-01), Killian Moran, Tom Houston, Gearoid Dillane (0-01).
U-21 County Championship: We have been drawn against West Kerry in the opening round of this year’s championship which will take place on Weds night 21st June in Castlegregory where throw in is @ 19.30. Having won this competition in 2015 we should be competitive again this year but the loss to the US of a no of key players will see us stretched to make an impression this year. However, Eugene McGrath along with selectors Davy Keane and Tony Corridon are leaving no stone unturned to ensure we are in the hat for round 2 of the competition.

Minors: We have been drawn to play Shannon Rangers in a preliminary round of the county championship which will be played on Thurs 29th June at a North Kerry venue. The winners will play Laune Rangers in the first round.

Kerry Seniors: Well done to Barry John and Jack who were part of the Kerry senior team who advanced to another Munster final meeting with the ” old enemy” following Kerry’s defeat of Clare by six point margin.
