Senior Munster Club Championship Semi Final Fixture.

Kerins O Rahillys v Eire Og Ennis — Sunday November 27th 1pm in Austin Stacks Park.

The senior team enter this fixture on the back of some good form, having recently won the Club Championship.

We will be hoping to advance , but will need to perform well to overcome the Clare champions, who themselves are playing with great confidence having conquered the Waterford champions in the last round.

Tickets for the game must be purchased online. There will be no cash accepted at the gates on the day.

The club have set up a go fund me page appealing for support given the substantial costs in training a club team at this time of year with players back in college and working in Dublin,Cork and Limerick and out of country etc.

The page can be accessed through a link on the clubs Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Hard to  believe that it’s been two years…
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Marie Nix was heartbroken when she passed away on November 20th, 2020 and so many of us still are.

Marie , a gentle, softly spoken lady was one of a kind. We all still have wonderful memories of Marie over the years with the juveniles and in particular the U8/10 girls. As a passionate “Blue” Marie played a huge role in getting so many girls playing in Strand Road to levels we have never seen before. We now have girls teams from U6s up to seniors.
They were all “my girls” and she treated them like her own.

Marie has two Co. Championship medals with Stacks but John converted her from the black and amber over to the Blues . Marie became a full on “Blue” and was fully immersed in our club.

It’s many the bus trip we had away to blitzes in Kerry and outside the county, always a great bonding session. These are the days that the girls will remember for the rest of their lives.
Our annual trip to Passage West was always something to look forward to and we visited Douglas and many more spots in Cork.

Often on the way home we would stop off for a bite to eat. It’s many a time after a game that Marie would open up the boot of her  car and out would come the 7Up and goodies. We remember too celebrating birthdays and Marie would bring a cake and candles.

We all remember the Christmas Fair in the club a few years ago. Marie was in the foyer greeting everyone with her warm smile and friendly presence  as they entered.

She offered everyone beautiful mince pies ,chocolate and mulled wine (non alcoholic of course) as she welcomed them. Marie had the foyer beautifully decorated and there was a fantastic atmosphere in the clubhouse that day.

We always had great craic during our preloved clothes sales.

In April 2019, our U10 Girls were invited to a blitz in Croke Park. Marie met us there and enjoyed watching the girls play on the hallowed turf.

Our ladies first big day out was a “Mystery Tour” organised by Marie. We went to the Climbing Wall in Dingle followed by lunch in Dingle town and then headed back further west to the beach where the girls had great fun kicking ball and paddling.

After a year as manager of the U12 Girls Marie was all set to return to the U8/10 girls but unfortunately within weeks her diagnosis was made.
Despite Marie’s illness she always came to watch Stephen and Katie’s games, a proud Mom! An avid supporter, Marie came to most  club games even when her own children weren’t playing.

It is because of Marie’s influence that our U16, U17 and U18 Ladies are the wonderful players and team that they are today. She was a coaching Mom who truly brought out the best in each one, inspired confidence and so many have gone on to play at a higher level.

Karon McLysaght, Adrian Doody, Danny Leane, Paddy Hayes, Rory Kerins and Shirley Doody all worked with Marie and were inspired by her .

Marie had a smile that would always light up a room and was just a wonderful, wonderful person.

We could write forever about Marie, her wonderful ways, her kindness, her positive attitude always, her great nature and the fun we all had!

We are especially thinking of John, Stephen, Katie, Marie’s Dad Anthony, her brothers Ger and John, the extended Nix and Slattery families and Marie’s friends at this time.

Those of us who worked with Marie will cherish the great memories of the time we all had together. It isn’t too many people you get to know in life like Marie. We all have so many great memories . We will treasure these forever. We are so lucky to have known Marie.  You truly are missed .

Our dear Marie…Always, you will be remembered and never forgotten!

U12 GIRLS
We were looking for the coolest place to have fun for our end of year…
And so decided on a way to also bring on the festive season….Ice skating in Fota followed by a trip to Mahon Point for a little retail therapy – Sunday, December 11th!
With Christmas music and a wonderful atmosphere, this will be a fun team day out for these young ladies.
Nestled in the grounds of Fota House , Arboretum & Gardens and opposite Fota Wildlife we are looking forward to seeing the girls enjoy their day out.
The festive season will have begun, shops and streets will be transformed with lights and decorations and it should be a fantastic day out.
