Strand RoadJuveniles

U6/8/10 Girls and Boys Saturday morning last was all about the All-Ireland in Healy Park Ballyrickard.

There were large numbers in all age groups despite many families having already left for Dublin. Most of the girls and boys showed up in their Kerry colours to show their support for Kerry teams and especially our own Cormac Coffey, David Moran, Barry John Keane and Alan O’Sullivan who is involved with the minor team.

There was a special intensity to training as many had aspirations to wear the green and gold in the future themselves. Training finished with all age groups getting together to give both teams a very special cheer. Training as usual next Saturday.

U14s: U14s have qualified for the Division 3 Town League semi-final v John Mitchels to be played on this Wednesday evening the 24th at 6pm in Strand Road.

U16s: U16 games in the Town League are fixed as follows but are subject to change. Back game v Churchill is due to be played in Churchill on Sunday 28th at 11am. Next round to be played is round 5 v Na Gaeil on the 6th of October at 6pm in Strand Road.

Senior Football

Mouth-Guards: As you may be aware it will be compulsory for all players senior right down to juvenile to wear mouth-guards at training sessions and when playing games. This comes into effect for seniors from 1st January 2014 and has been in effect for all others since last January.

If players fail to wear mouth guards they will not be permitted to participate in football training or matches. No mouthguard No game! Further information on this rule can be found online at http://www.gaa.ie.

Ladies Football

U12 Girls The U12 girls played a challenge game against Abbeydorney on Thursday evening last the 18th at 6.30 in Healy Park Ballyrickard. We would like to thank Abbeydorney for travelling in to play the game.

U14/U16 U14 and U16 Ladies train every Tuesday at 6.15 in Ballyrickard.

Congratulations

Well we did it…..the double is in the bag…..well done to the minors (especially Cormac Coffey and Alan O’Sullivan) and management on their exciting win over Donegal and won’t it be great to welcome Tommy Markham back to Kerry after the long wait of 20 years.

It has been 5 years since we had Sam Maguire in our possession so when Fionn and Kieran finally lifted it on Sunday we all breathed a sigh of relief.

Some would say it wasn’t the nicest game to watch and I would probably agree but my can we congratulate the Kerry team (especially David Moran and Barry John Keane) and management on their adaptability and tactical play and the way they beat Donegal at their own game.

It will make the winter shorter and we will still watch the replays over and over. I can see this team being here for a long time to come. Comhghairdeas go léir ó gach duine i Chéirín Uí Rathaille.

Birthday wishes this week go to Gearoid Meehan U10 Boys,. Enjoy your Birthday!
