badmintonThe Badminton competitive season for the Kerry Badminton Association commenced at the Killarney Sports Centre last weekend and the fare provided over both days certainly proved that the game of Badminton is alive and well within the County as between the juveniles on Saturday and the adults on Sunday close on 250 players displayed their skills and expertise in two wonderful days of play.

Each of the 4 adult competitions played on Sunday saw badminton action at its best and the division 5 grade in particular was a joy to behold where many new players from all parts of the County were displaying their skills in Kerry competition for the first time
Overall results as follows

Div. 5 Mixed final; Marie Kennelly (Moyvane) and Daniel O’Connor (Killarney) defeated Deirdre McAuliffe (Listowel( and Colm Carroll (Ballyheigue ) 21-16; 21-19

Div 4 Mixed final; Michelle Corridan (Moyvane) and Jebin John (County, Tralee) 25-23; 17-21; 21-13

Div. 3 Mixed Final; Jeanelle Griffin (Moyvane) and Marusz Tusnski (County) defeated Sandra O’Connor (Killarney) and Timmy Hanrahan (Moyvane) 30-27

Div 1 &2 Mixed Final; Miriam Rohan (Kingdom, Castleisland and Donnacha Moloney (Moyvane) defeated Catherine Murphy and Michael Crossan (both Kingdom 30-27

The juveniles on Saturday certainly came out in force with 8 clubs from the County being well represented on the day.Results as follows;

Juvenile Doubles Championships

The Kerry County Championships commence on Saturday next in the Killarney Sports centre with the Girls and Boys doubles championships for the under 11/13/15 and 17 year old age groups and another huge crowd of players are guaranteed to fill the spacious Killarney arena. The competitions commence at 11 am. All players are requested to check in by 10.45

Again a reminder to all players that the Newtownsandes sponsored Moyvane tournaments are due to be played in the local Community Centre on Sunday November 29th. Entry forms are now with Club secretaries.
