THE Skellig Ring has been named one of the world’s top ten regions to travel to by Lonely Planet in 2017.

The South Kerry beauty spot creeps in to the top ten list no doubt propelled by the worldwide exposure it received from appearing as Luke Skywalker’s home in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

Lonely Planet describes the area as “perhaps Ireland’s most charismatically wild and emerald stretch of coastline”.
