Kerry Camino Wins Category At IPB Pride Of Place Awards

THE Kerry Camino was a category winner at the IPB Pride of Place Competition 2019 on Saturday night.

The Kerry Camino, based in Tralee, is a local initiative to promote walking in the area, specifically along The Dingle Way between Tralee and Dingle. The annual walking festival takes place every May Bank Holiday weekend.

They were one of three Kerry County Council nominated community projects in attendance at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on Saturday evening and won the Community Tourism Category.

The other two projects were the Welcome Kenmare Group and Knockalougha Rambling House, Knocknagoshel and the Kenmare entry won the Community Wellbeing Initiative category.

The IPB Pride of Place Awards is an all-island competition that acknowledges the work that communities are doing all over the island of Ireland.

The competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities. The three groups were visited in Kerry by Pride of Place Judges in July.
