AROUND 150 walkers from all over the country and beyond registered for the Kerry Camino this morning, as they set off from St John’s Church.

The 3-day guided walk of the Dingle Way from Tralee to Dingle was established by a voluntary local group based in Tralee to encourage walking tourism and revive Kerry’s links with pilgrims of the past, walking in the footsteps of St. Brendan along the Dingle Way.

Participating numbers have grown annually from 30 in 2012 to 350 in 2019. Mayor of Tralee Johnnie Wall was on hand to officially start the walk at 9am on Friday morning.

Over the next three days, the walkers will pass through rugged, mountainous and coastal scenery, through towns and villages, stamping logbooks along with way until reaching the final destination of the Spanish built Church of St. James in Dingle, where Certificates of Completions will be presented.
