KERRY has been named as the most generous county in Ireland, with Kerry people digging deep to sponsor more vulnerable children with ActionAid per percentage of the population than any other county.
Figures released by ActionAid show people in Kerry have sponsored almost 700 children in Africa and, Asia.

Siobhan McGee, Chief Executive of ActionAid Ireland said: “At a time when life is financially harder for most of us, the generosity of people in Kerry is inspiring and absolutely vital to support ActionAid’s work.
“Currently almost 6,000 children are being sponsored through ActionAid but we urgently need more people to step forward and help change a life. I would encourage more people in Kerry to sponsor a child this Christmas to keep them safe from harm and provide the foundations they need to change their lives for good.”
Over the last 20 years almost 20,000 child sponsors have helped ActionAid transform the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. Child sponsorship is a special relationship – when you become a child sponsor you join your child in their fight for a better life and you get to see the difference your support has on their community over time.
Sponsorship from the Irish public provides basics like food, shelter, clean water and education for children in the poorest parts of the world.
